Wildlife Drive and the driveway to the cabin is gravel. Snow occurs regularly during the winter months so 4WD or AWD may be necessary. Cell service is spotty in the mountains, we highly recommend you download the maps of the area for offline use prior to travel, just in case service is lost. PRIVATE PARKING: Park immediately in front of the cabin. The driveway leads towards two cabins. 170 Wildlife Drive is the driveway to the right and slightly down hill once you’ve reached the apex of the driveway. Parking is available for 3 cars. Note that the parking area is a little narrow so please be mindful when leaving and maneuvering your vehicle. The cabin is located in the heart of the Lost River valley of West Virginia and very close to two parks. If you're looking for hiking, fishing or canoeing, you're only 10 minutes from Trout Pond and George Washington National Forest. The Lost River State Park is also 15 minutes away and offers beautiful hikes, frisbee golf, horseback riding, playgrounds, tennis courts, grills, and a full size pool (seasonally available). Closer to the cabin, a 5-minute drive, is The Guesthouse Lost River where you can enjoy fine dining, and bar accommodations based on reservations and availability (weekends only). Even closer, Lost River Farmers Market (Saturdays, seasonally open) and The General Store (weekends, seasonally) are a 2-minute drive and features locally grown food, produce, coffee shop, small gifts, indoor and outdoor seating. En route to the cabin, there are also great stops along the way. Check out Woodbine Farm Market (seasonal) for produce, sandwiches, pumpkins and playgrounds (45 minutes from cabin). In Wardensville, about 20 minutes from the cabin, there is the Lost River Trading Post, a modern mountain general store and coffee shop; the Wardensville Farmers Market Bakery; and WordPlay, a great book and game store. To get to the cabin and the local attractions, we recommend driving. The road to the cabin is gravel and remains in outstanding shape thanks to the care of the property association. During the winter months, the gravel road is plowed but given that you'll be driving around the mountains, you may want to consider AWD/4WD depending on weather conditions around your stay. Parking is free at the house and the driveway and turnaround area can hold 2-3 cars.
