The Cedars - 5 bedroom house in the Eden Valley
The Cedars is a spacious, eighteenth-century house that has been in our family for decades. Over the years it has provided many happy Cumbrian holidays for our friends and family. The Cedars is very comfortable and, although not smart, is ideally suited for families. It is in the beautiful traditional Cumbrian village of Temple Sowerby in the Eden Valley, halfway between Penrith and Appleby. Situated between the Lake District and the Pennines, it makes an ideal base for exploring both. The property has a comfortable sitting room with an open fire, a dining room and a well equipped kitchen with a large breakfast bar. A large utility room has space for drying any rain clothes and boots and at the rear is an enclosed garden. There is off road parking for one car. Any other cars would need to be parked elsewhere in the village. There is a parking area at the eastern end of the Maypole Green (75m) , or else parking spaces can be found around the village, but please be considerate of village residents when parking. The owner is available on the phone in case of any problems and the caretaker lives in the village. Temple Sowerby is a pretty and peaceful village. The Cedars faces onto one of the two village greens. There is a pub in the village and a short walk across the fields will take you to Acorn Bank National Trust Garden and Tea Room. Located in the Eden Valley, halfway between Penrith and Appleby, Temple Sowerby makes an an ideal base for exploring both the Lake District – only 20 minutes from Ullswater (Pooley Bridge) - and the Pennines. Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders are also within easy reach. Shower: There is a shower over one of the baths.
