Plas Esgob
Plas Esgob is tucked away into the majestic Rhoscolyn headland landscape and is just a grassy stroll from the magical Borth Wen beach. Great for walking, fishing, bird-spotting and beachcombing forays straight out from the door. For lovers of wild beauty and remote and for those with a taste for funkily furnished and fabulous interiors, come and live life on the headland edge! The winding lanes hug the hedgerows as they bring you to your heavenly retreat. No sterile holiday house feel here – instead, find a carefully thought-out renovation where old and new sections blend seamlessly. It’s all about the views. The quirky layout and myriad of rooms create pockets of relaxation that larger groups will love. There’s space galore… Enter Plas Esgob and the original flagged floor will transport you back centuries. The wooden panelled hallway draws you through to the coastal views and arguably the best space of all - the seaside kitchen. It’s quite a space, with vaulted ceilings and those big vistas, each framed by weather-proof windows and sliding doors. Now this is THE place to cook up a storm and everything you need is right here. Just off the kitchen is a dramatically decorated snug with deep dark walls. Just the place to curl up in the evening in front of the fire while someone else gets on with the cooking. The view from here frame the sea and sky beyond, and huge sofas help you to linger. In the left wing of this wonderful holiday house is another snug room with wooden shelves providing homes to games, guide books and shells – collections of all things sea decorate restful walls. The detail is second to none. Through to a small study area cosily fitted in between the two ground floor bedrooms. You can’t get more Blytonesque than the first ground floor super king room with its plump bed cocooned by vintage educational paintings. A charmingly old-fashioned feel. Next door is another smart super king room with doors to the patio to sit and watch the gulls float by. A slick shower room in the hall area serves these rooms very well. From the snug room up to an attic bedroom with an adjoining bathroom and a rolltop bath. It’s a proper escape and the balcony views here will mesmerise you – nothing beats the seascape. In the opposite wing is another super king room with a large picture window opening out to the Atlantic - perfect for seal-spotting. Soak off the sea salt in the roll-top bath across the landing and then climb into bed to listen to the swish of the sea. Outside, a delightful garden tumbles along to a coast path – in summer banked by a mass of seaside-loving flowers. Flop on a sun lounger and be lulled by salty scents and breezes. You could easily stay put but venture along the coast you must – to some of the loveliest beaches on Anglesey. Visit Trearddur Bay perhaps with its sandy expanse and coves and restaurants, or take a peek at St Gwenfaen’s Well and draw in the views, light and peace. Stay closer to home and stroll to The White Eagle to enjoy delicious freshly cooked fare. Or simply scramble to the beach down the private access for a family adventure. At the end of a day of sea air and exploring, return home for the sunset and fish on the BBQ. As darkness falls, light the woodstove, snuggle up and raise a glass to the stars.
