Casa María Grande is a fully restored Pueblo house full of authentic Moorish charm. At its heart, an enclosed 10m by 4m swimming pool and patio area where you can swim in perfect privacy. On the top floor, there are terraces with spectacular mountain views. The main house (Casa Maria Grande) consists of three bedrooms and is adjoined to a smaller one bedroomed house. Both houses are freshly decorated in the Moorish style with rustic wooden beams and handmade terracotta floor tiles. Casa Maria Grande is located at 3 Calle Mojon which is a pedestrianised street in the lower part of the old village. It is composed of an old heavy and secure entrance door on the street level, a spacious shower room, a large entrance lobby and a large double bedroom with a 19th-century open fireplace and modern brass bed. Doors open onto a cloistered sitting area and the magnificent 4m by 10m swimming pool. We have an assortment of toys, rubber rings and floats for your use. Stairs rise to a master bedroom with a brass bed, built-in closet space and a spacious ensuite bathroom. In addition, there is a large twin bedroom and a single bedroom. Also on that floor is a charming library and study work area with desk and office space with fireplace, Arabic reading nook and shelves stocked with over 200 books and videos that guests can enjoy. Stairs lead up again to the large light living space with ample sofa seating and Arabic antique rugs. The living area is furnished with quirky Moroccan touches everywhere and is equipped with the latest 65inch high definition Samsung TV, VHS and DVD player, and a Bose Wave sound system with Bluetooth connection. The house has fast Fibre Optical Wifi that works over all four floors. A feature of the living room is a large open (fan-assisted) fireplace and a raised dining area with a large rustic table and seating for 8 persons. There is a chest full of board games, cards, crayons and colouring books if you or your children are feeling creative. The new ‘Chefs’ kitchen is also on this floor and has everything a keen cook needs to create Andalucian cuisine. Equipment includes a microwave oven, a Nespresso Coffee Machine and Caffetiers, Food Processor, food mixers, blenders, grinders and a battery of top-quality pots and pans, professional knives and utensils. There is a dishwasher and a stainless steel larder fridge and an under-counter wine fridge. In the utility area, there is a washing machine and tumble dryer and ample cleaning equipment. From the kitchen double doors go out onto a patio area cafe table and chair set, a wood-fired Delvita pizza oven and a Weber charcoal barbeque. From this patio stone steps rise to two walled rooftop patios areas. One has rattan and cushion seating for 8 persons under a shaded pergola and the other a dining table and chair set with an attractive sail sunshade. The views down the valley from the terraces are amazing and the perfect place to witness the Andalucian sunset and great for Yogas sessions with mats provided The smaller house, Casa Florenza, has a separate private entrance from Calle Zoraba and can be used as a self-contained house. It composes of a large double bedroom with a brass bed and ‘feature’ shower room, a fully fitted kitchen and a living/ dining area with a TV. The two areas communicate directly with the pool area when let together. It is possible to park 20 metres in a small square close the house to unload luggage or provisions. Longer-term parking is a 5-10 min walking to the house near the Town Hall. The house has 4 floors, so you need to be used to stairs. It may well not, therefore, be suitable for very old or very sound persons The pool is available during the summer months when it is cleaned and maintained weekly. Please enquire about the opening and closing dates of our pool before confirming. We are able to supply firewood in the winter months, but it is not included in the rental Longer-term lets of up to a month are possible in the low season. Guests will be received by our Housekeeper - Ruth who lives in nearby Durcal and is on hand in case of emergencies and answering any questions you have about the property My Housekeeper RUTH BOUDIER who lives in nearby Durcal will check guests in and out Albunuelas lies at the head of the Lecrin Valley and is 15 minutes from the main coastal to Granada freeway. It is a sleepy characterful Andalucian village with a large church, 3 bars, a bakery, pharmacy, school and 2 convenience stores. It has a small market on Saturdays but regular daily visits from vendors selling fresh meat, fish, bread and vegetables. It is a large lived in village with a nice mix of nationalities and its very friendly. There are several excellent restaurants within a 15 minute radius of the house. The GR7 (Camino Real) runs through the village on the leg between Granada and Seville. There are many well-signposted walks around the village. I made short Video that's on Utube if you search Albunuelas Casa Maria Grande The village is all accessible on foot but be aware it sits on the hillside overlooking the Lecrin Valley. It is possible to park 20 metres in a small square from the house to unload luggage or provisions. Permanent parking 5min walking to the house. Malaga Airport is 1.25 minutes drive away, Granada 30 minutes and the Coast at Salobrena 40 minutes drive. There is a bus service to Durcal the nearest town. Heating if required by programmable electric radiators in all rooms. There are also 4 large electric fans and a portable air conditioning unit. It is worth noting though the house is old and well built so tends to stay cool in summer and warmer than usual in winter. Wood is available for the fire during the winter months at an extra cost and providing it is pre-ordered in advance.
