Mount Vernon is an area just north of downtown Baltimore, and is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods. Originally, it was home to the city's most fashionable families. Transportation in Baltimore is plentiful - the light rail, there is the free Johns Hopkins Shuttle for students and staff, the free Charm City Circulator, the MARC and Amtrak trains at Penn Station will take you to Washington DC in an hour, the bus of course, Zipcars, metro subway and the popular electric scooters. Charm City is called such for it's wide array of neighborhoods. Each neighborhood is different in its own charming way, but IMHO Mt Vernon is the best! Walk outside and you are walking among 100+ year old brownstones. Immediately across from your house is a public park perfect for dog walking, there is the free Walters Art Museum, newly renovated Washington Monument, the Peabody Conservatory with its dramatic stairs and publicly available library -- and all this you can see from your stoop! Walk around a bit and you can access over 20 art galleries, 30 restaurants and bars, the historic Charles Movie Theater, Lyric Opera House, University of MD, MICA, and the list goes on.
