To the rear, the sitting room opens onto a large patio with seating – part of a south-facing walled garden – whilst to the front, there’s parking right outside your door. Friendly dogs are welcomed to The Shippon (there’s a one-off charge) with their own bowl, towel and throw, but they mustn’t be left unattended in the building at any time. Many cafés and pubs in Ellesmere accept dogs, whilst there are a plenty of countryside walks from your doorstep. Mereside Farm offers off road parking and from the back of the gardens you can meander into the Ellesmere Plantation woods. Just a short walk away is the picturesque town of Ellesmere which has developed into a vibrant market town with numerous Georgian and half-timbered buildings. Ellesmere prides itself on its individual and independent shops – some have been in the same family for generations. Throughout the year there are numerous food festivals and regattas. It’s a great place to visit. Ellesmere is a town in Shropshire near the Welsh/English border and the towns of Oswestry, Whitchurch and Wrexham, making it a perfect base to visit Shropshire and north Wales.
