Le Petit Chateau (Adults only property)

The beautiful 'Le Petit Chateau' originally built in 1551 is entirely yours to enjoy. Ideally situated on the bank of the River Vezere in the pre-historic area known as the 'Vallee de L'Homme' between the tourist destination town of Les Eyzies (6 min by car) and market town of Le Bugue (5 min by car). Le Petit Chateau is exclusively for adults* in the private grounds of an equally beautiful manor house which is occupied by the husband and wife owners. Longer stays are possible on request. Le Petit Chateau has been tastefully refurbished retaining it's romantic charm while having features such as a walk in shower room in the turret! The small kitchen with full size oven is well equipped and is open-plan to the lounge which has a wood burning stove. The good size bedroom has a king-size bed with a luxurious mattress and a small air conditioning unit should help keep the temperature down in the bedroom in the summer months. Outside Le Petit Chateau has its own private terrace with sun and shaded areas with table & chairs and sun beds provided with your privacy assured. Share the beauty of the well-kept gardens, fishpond, and river frontage.... and fabulous 12x5m swimming pool and natural stone pool area with luxury sun loungers! We have 4 x Mountain (VTT) bikes available to rent for €15 per bike per day. Also a two person kayak is available to rent; we take you with the kayak to Les Eyzies for you to kayak down the river (for approximately 1 hour) directly back to your accommodation. The cost for this activity for 2 persons is €20. Feel safe here within your own space. Social distancing is easy with only the owners and perhaps guests from one other gite on this 2 acre property which has an open field to one side and a walnut tree plantation to the other with river frontage. You have free use of the large 12m x 5m heated swimming pool which is situated next to our manor house and has luxurious sun loungers with umbrellas. If you are relaxing by the pool then most of the time you will have this space to yourselves. We look forward to welcoming you here and then slipping into the background for you to enjoy your time together. Around and about you can soak up the beauty of the Dordogne with its amazing chateaux and visit the many pre-historic caves and cultural experiences through 'The valley of man'. Our location is a perfect base to either see the sites or just relax and be. Our private property is pretty secluded without being isolated. You are just 5 minutes away from local restaurants, shops, supermarkets and other amenities. We have 4 x Mountain (VTT) bikes available to rent for €15 per bike per day. The local single-track train line runs adjacent to our garden and Le Bugue train station a short 10 minute walk away where you can take the train to the fabulous historic town of Sarlat or Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne. Your host is happy to pick you up from the train station to bring you back to your accommodation. The local single track, mostly single carriage train which is rather cute, runs adjacent to our garden which means that for around 10 seconds a few times during the day you will hear a train however, with Le Bugue train station a short 10-minute walk away you can take the train to the fabulous historic town of Sarlat or Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne... so you enjoy a meal out with as much wine as you want without having to drive! Your host is happy to pick you up from the train station to bring you back to your accommodation. *Please note: Because we have so many water features and open to the river without safety fences and barriers unfortunately this property is not suitable for children.
