Summary: Enjoy a quiet get away at our historic carriage house in the heart of West Chester. Walking distance to downtown restaurants and shops and close proximity to West Chester University. Enter through the gate and gardens and walk the stone path to the private entrance of your home away from home at the Carriage House. The home is equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, smart tv with cable and apps for all of your own log-ins. The sofa folds out into a full size bed, perfect for a single sleeper. Extra linens and pillows are provided. Upstairs, you'll find a large, bright queen bedroom with a sitting area, smart tv with cable and climate control for ultimate comfort. Guest Access: There is free parking (except Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.) at the front of the house on Union Street. Parking is also available on Dean Street (first street south of the house), just make sure to not park where the permitted signs are posted. There is also a paid parking garage located at 220 Market St which is about a 7 minute walk. The Neighborhood: West Chester is a historic community that has a small-town charm with a cosmopolitan flair. It is located just an hour west of Philadelphia and is well known for its walk-ability. The community was settled more than 300 years ago as part of the Welsh Tract which was established by William Penn. In 1762, it began to grow into a crossroads village called The Turks Head, after a tavern of the same name. The village became the seat for Chester County in 1786. The name West Chester was officially adopted in 1788 by the Pennsylvania Assembly, which also established the current boundaries. Finally, in 1799, it became the first borough in Chester County and had a population of 374. Today, it remains the same size as it was then (1.8 square miles), but the population has grown to over 20,000.
