This beautiful home is right in the heart of the historical Antietam National Battlefield! Seconds away from Nutter's Ice Cream shop, Burkholder's Bakery, Captain Bender's Tavern, which has an amazing food menu, and many other local shops. Tour the many historical areas surrounding the town such as the C&O Canal, the Antietam National Cemetary, Boonsboro, MD and Shepherdstown, WV. There's a fenced in back yard and enclosed porch to store your bicycles during your stay. Perfect for everyone! Our home was originally built in 1856, just 5 years before the beginning of the Civil War. This home is seconds away from the "Big Spring," which was originally the center of what the town was built around. This spring was chosen as it was beside a branch of the colonial Great Wagon Road from Philadelphia to modern Augusta, Georgia. During the 20th Century, more homes were built, but families got smaller, and the town was missed by major highways, so Sharpsburg has been much the same size for more than 150 years.
