The detached house KATERINA is located close to the bay of Stavros, north of Chania, on the outmost north western tip of the peninsula Akrotiri. The fantastic sandy beach is about 900m away and is set on the foot of a huge rock. The beach has very fine sand and is sloping gently into the sea. You may actually recognize the scenery – the legendary movie „Alexis Zorbas“ was shot here in 1964. The beaches on this part of the Akrotiri coastline are a paradise for water lovers and sun worshippers. Surfers have to be careful in August – the „Meltemi“ is a strong north wind and can become very tricky and treacherous. The comfortable holiday house KATERINA lies quiet and secluded in the middle of a garden property surrounded by numerous flowers, plants and trees. The construction and the interior of the house –furnished in light, silvergreen colours matching the olive trees – create a harmonic atmosphere. The spacious living room with adjoining kitchen is on elevated ground floor and has direct access to a large, partly roofed terrace with a wonderful sea view. From the living room you get to the 2 bedrooms with a shared bath. From one of the bedrooms a ladder leads to a small alcove with one bed. From both bedrooms you get to the shared terrace with a pergola that is overgrown with bougainvillea. From the terrace you can see the „White mountains“. A buggy is available for guests. Chania is called the “most beautiful city” on Crete and makes quite a change to the quiet Stavros. Chania is a picturesque and lively city, directly at the sea with a beautiful ancient city centre. Romans, Saracens, Byzantines, Venetians, Genoese and Turks have all left – Chania remained. Their legacy are the winding alleys of the ancient city centre – there are many small places, neat Venetian town houses and other sights and places of interest.
