Set in the picturesque little hamlet of Whitton, you can walk down to Rothbury via a footpath on the roadside or using a public right of way over the field, here at Dovecote Cottage you can enjoy a peaceful, rural holiday yet be only a couple of minutes’ drive into the town centre. Rothbury has plenty of choices for dining and for drinks in one of the friendly local pubs or restaurants. The High Street has a few bespoke shops, bakeries and a Co-op supermarket. The cottage is set on the edge of the International Highly Acclaimed Dark Sky park, star gazing is a must whilst staying here and there are ample cycling and walking routes straight from the door. For those who are seeking a calming, relaxing holiday surrounded by some bird and wildlife this is a fabulous location as you have the best of both worlds being so close to Rothbury itself. Nearby Cragside house a wonderful NT property has stunning gardens and so much to see being the first house to be powered by Hydro Electricity. Fans of LJ Ross may have read the book called Cragside a wonderful murder mystery set here. The majestic castle in Alnwick is only a 25 minute drive featured in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes, worth visit and then explore some of the cobbled streets steeped in history. From Alnwick you may wish to explore further either north or south with an abundance of villages and towns set along the stunning Northumberland heritage Coast, all of which are in easy driving distance to Dovecote Cottage.
