PLEASE NOTE: We are community minded in regard to Covid19 regulations, observe social distancing on welcoming our guests. I do all the cleaning myself including all commonly touched surface with disinfectant and sprays. We have been urged by local council to encourage visitors from major cities in particular, to please wear masks when visiting tourist areas according to the latest Covid-related alerts. I require proof of full Covid vaccination when confirming a booking, as I am operating in the best interests of ourselves as hosts, our current and future guests, and our community in general. Situated two minutes off the Princes Highway (half way between Nowra to the north, and the charming village of Milton to the south) and convenient to many of the Shoalhaven region's most beautiful beaches. Finchley B&B offers a total of 2 acres of lightly treed rural land with delightful views, sometimes including wallabies and kangaroos grazing nearby. We have a dog-proof fenced yard connected to the rear of the cottage, and an acre of secure open space where dogs or children can safely enjoy a good run around to let off steam after a long trip in the car. The Shoalhaven region has become famous for many quality wineries, some with their own restaurants, and some offering jazz events, local exhibitions etc, as well as many quality restaurants and cafes including the world renowned Rick Stein's at Bannisters, in Mollymook, plus weekend markets, galleries and museums. Wandandian also currently features a Farmers Market Friday to Sundays, offering plentiful supplies of fresh fruit and veg, plus preserves, snacks, drinks and other special treats, including our local Haywards Honey. We are conveniently situated within 20-30 minutes' driving distance of many beautiful Shoalhaven/Jervis Bay beaches, National Parks and bushwalking trails, waterfalls and lookouts, such as George Boyd Lookout and Granite Falls. The Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay coast offers many popular fishing spots, surfing beaches and bays (many, dog-friendly), walking trails, dolphin- and whale-watching cruises and more. You are also within a very pleasant day's outing through Kangaroo Valley to the Southern Highlands area behind us. The cottage features some original works by a local artist, showing Jervis Bay beaches in their glorious colours, and these, together with beach bags with a choice of three of these views, are available to purchase as a souvenir of your visit, or perhaps a gift. WANDANDIAN: Located at the centre of the Shoalhaven, Wandandian village was first established as a postal district in 1860, and has a rich history, including being on the Wool Road which originally ran from Braidwood down to Jervis Bay where the wool was loaded onto ships for export. The village takes its name from the Wandandian people, the traditional owners of much of the region. The Aboriginal meaning of 'Wandandian' (originally Wandrawandian) is 'home of lost lovers'.
