Historic Hangout in Shenandoah- 5 mins to Catherine's Furnace
Summary: You will love our Historic home with two massive bedrooms and one large full bathroom complete with a soaking tub. Estimated to have been constructed about 1777-78, the Coach Stop House was located on the Luray to Staunton Turnpike and served variously as a saloon and general public entertainment spot. During the 1860s, it also was used as a stopping point for staff officers. A long porch runs the length of the home facing west. Depending on the season, one can see the nearby George Washington National Forest. Visit Catherine's Furnace, an iron ore forge that also produced charcoal and limestone for the area, located less than 5 minutes from the site. Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park are within a twenty-minute drive, Massanutten Ski slopes are nearby in the other direction. The Space: With lots of mature trees and outdoor space, you can enjoy your privacy and the fresh air! Once you have arrived, you will be greeted by the main level of our 3 level home. The main level has a fully stocked kitchen so that you can settle in at feel "at home." The living room with a large flat-screen TV with Roku and two queen-size sleeper sofas is the perfect place to relax and hang out. You will also find one of the two bedrooms on the main level with two queen-sized beds. Taking the stairs to the house's 3rd level, you will find the second bedroom with a king bed as well as a twin bed. A full bathroom and a workspace with a desk and two chairs complete the upper level. The basement has a washer and dryer as well as a ping pong table if you are up for a bit of fun! Note: this home is located next to a recycling site. This can create some noise during the day. However we strongly feel the character and location of the home far outweigh any inconveniences from the recycling site :) Guest Access: The house has a digital combo lock pad. We will provide you with the code upon check-in. All cancellations due to weather are subject to our cancellation policy. There can be unpredictable winter weather in the Shenandoah Valley, which can make traversing roads and accessing homes challenging. We recommend purchasing traveler's insurance if you are concerned that your vehicle might not be able to traverse snowy roads during inclement weather and you may have to cancel. We do allow rescheduling and crediting your stay towards a future stay in lieu of a refund due to cancellation.
