Ty Men is a granite built farmhouse. It was renovated to an extremely high standard in 2008 using traditional methods and local builders. The house stands in 3300 m2 of lawned garden surrounded by fields used by the local farmer for crops. The property is equipped with satellite TV allowing access to over 100 channels including the normal UK TV and radio channels. There is also a DVD. Broadband Internet is available throughout the property. No pets are allowed. The property is suitable for children and the area is very peaceful .The house is within a hamlet of 6 other buildings, 3 of which are owned as holiday homes and not rented commercially. The hamlet is extremely quiet and safe for children although the garden is not fenced off. The surrounding countryside can be explored easily on foot or bicycle. The house is open plan downstairs with a very large working open fire and limestone flooring throughout. The underfloor heating installed all adds to the cozy feel of this beautiful house and makes it ideal for all year round lets. The original oak beams have been retained during the renovation of the house. The modern and well appointed kitchen is superbly equipped. The large dining area has a table seating 12 to 14. Four terraces surround the house. Ample parking is available next to the house and in the adjoining open barn. There are woods nearby which can be explored on foot and the property is a few minutes walk from the inhabited chateau at Tregranteur which is a quiet but picturesque village. There are no amenities in the village although in nearby Guegon , only a five minute drive, there is a small supermarket, boulangerie and chemist. Also in Guegon are bars, restaurants, and sporting amenities including tennis. Outside Ty Men is a large lawned garden of 3300m2 which surrounds the property on al sides. At the edge of the garden are fields used for crops by the local farmer. Sometimes the young calves are kept in a small field behind the house and visible from the dining area. Four terraces surround the house giving plenty of space for alfresco dining. The spacious accommodation is as follows: Ty Men sleeps up to 11 guests, plus a baby, in 5 Bedrooms, specifically: Bedroom 1 has a large double bed and ensuite. Bedroom 2 has a large double bed. Bedroom 3 has twin beds Bedroom 4 has twin beds. Bedroom 5 has three single beds. There are two bathrooms. Bathroom 1 is a large family bathroom with freestanding bath, sink, shower and toilet. Bathroom 2 is ensuite to Bedroom 1 and has a shower, wash basin and WC. Utility Room: This is adjacent to kitchen and has a large fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. There is also plenty of cupboard space here plus a separate WC.. The property will be cleaned before arrival and guests are asked to leave it as they found it. Linen and towels are supplied. There are numerous sandy beaches to the east and west of Vannes which are approximately 45 minutes by car. These include Carnac, Trinite-sur-mer, Erdeven and Etel to the west of Vannes and Damgan, Sarzeau and Penestin to the east. There is a beach at the Lac au Duc at Ploermel which is 15 minutes by car and where one can try water sports such as sailing, water ski-ing and kayak-ing at a reasonable price. There is also tennis available at no cost, small water slides and a bar/restaurant. There are many picturesque towns nearby including Josselin with its perfectly preserved medieval chateau still lived in by the Rohan family. The chateau and Dolls' Museum in Josselin are open to visitors from April to October and there are tours in English daily during the summer. Market day, every Saturday, is always popular with local produce and much more available. Josselin is renowned for the incredible Medieval Festival held on Bastille Day,14th July, where the town comes alive with many locals dressing in traditional costume. Also in Josselin is the peaceful haven "Le Bois d'Amour", (Lovers Wood). Here you will literally find a "park in a town". It has been created to promote nature and the environment. There is an open air theatre where music events are held during the summer months. access it. It has been very well landscaped and contains wooded sections and a stream flowing throughout. Displays are provided which explain the wildlife of the area in pictures and sounds. There are plenty of benches provided throughout the park as well as picnic tables and even a boules court. Also a small childrens' play area. An amphitheatre stages open air films and concerts during the summer, and look out for the water powered clock. Malestroit This pretty market town holds regular concerts in summer in the lovely cobbled square. The canal is flanked by paths for walking and cycling, with boating for miles in both directions. On the outskirts of Malestroit is the Musée de la Résistance de Bretagne' The fascinating museum chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War. Nearby is the charming town of La Gacilly. During the summer months an outdoor photographic exhibition is held. Boat trips on the canal are available. The Yves Rocher factory, shop and Spa are situated here. Also a vegetarian restaurant - very unusual in France! Rochefort-en-Terre, about 45 minutes away, was voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, plentiful restaurants and shops, it is a must on your holiday agenda! A 20 minute drive from the accommodation takes you to the Domaine de Kerguéhennec. Here you will find an unusual sculpture park and chateau in magnificent grounds. There is a large lake and lots of woodland. Dogs are welcome! There is a small café in the park but opening times can be limited! In the chateau there are often art exhibitions. The walled city of Vannes is about a 50 minute drive from Guegon. The harbourside restaurants in Vannes are always busy in the summer months. The local seafood, oysters and mussels being particularly popular. The zoo at Pont Scorff is ideal for younger members of the family (about 1 hour away) The Prehistoric Park at Malansac, about 45 minutes away, is another great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris. Nearby (1 hour drive) is the stunning medieval city of Rennes, capital of Brittany. There are numerous outdoor cafés and restaurants in the picturesque square plus shops so perfect if you want some retail therapy! BRITTANY REGION Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns, easily accessible from Lizio's central situation. Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports. From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday. The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants. During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
