NOR14 - Houlgate - Edcar
These delightful cottages, with their beautiful 'colombage' style exteriors, are situated in the heart of rural Normandy offering a peaceful retreat whilst having many of Normandy's tourist attractions within easy driving reach. The detached properties are close together, allowing extended families/groups of friends to be together whilst also having their own space. The property is set in approximately 20 acres of land which you are free to explore. The bigger cottage has two bedrooms with two king size beds and a single. The smaller cottage has one bedroom with a king size bed. Guests will have sole use of the entire property and and will share the associated grounds only with cows, deer, foxes, badgers and the occasional wild boar. There are no other cottages on the site. Pets are permitted by prior arrangement. Terms and Conditions for bringing your pet is detailed in the Booking Contract and a Pet Fee is applied. The property is just 10 minutes by car from the beach and the beaches of Houlgate and Villers sur Mer are our favourites. The historic town of Honfleur with its beautiful harbour is 30 minutes away. Heuland is part of the cider route with the excellent Calvados experience just 20 minutes away in Pont L'Eveque. Go-karting, the casino and horse-racing are some of the many attractions in this region, and of course the medieval market at Dives-sur-mer on Saturdays (and Tuesdays in July and August) is a must. Other things to consider for your stay are:- • The Normandy D-Day Beaches beyond Caen • Memorial Museum outside Caen (fascinating and heart-rending) • The Bayeux Tapestry • William the Conqueror’s Castle at Caen • Cabourg’s promenade and its tributes to Proust • Fossil-hunting at Les Vaches Noires cliffs between Houlgate and Villers. A car is essential to enjoy the cottages and their surroundings. The nearest bakery and supermarket are 5 minutes drive away in Dozule but for a big shop there is a mega-store in Dives.
