Nestled amongst organic Shiraz vineyards where the McLaren Vale foothills meet the ocean, the Old Chaff Mill Retreat dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, when it provided grains and chaff to bullock teams as they hauled their mighty loads across the picturesque countryside. Gutted by fire a century ago, the building has been architecturally restored with a stunning modern fitout celebrating its rich past, to provide a unique luxury accommodation experience. The Chaff Mill comprises two delux, double-story, self-contained suites with plush king beds and spectacular bathrooms with double rain-head showers: “The Millery” and “The Granary”. The kitchen is fully equipped with European appliances, and includes a gorgeous lit glass floor display right under your breakfast table, of artefacts dug out during restoration, while the walls around you contain secret mortar inscriptions from the building’s original stonemasons. The space also has an amazing chaff chute covered in century-old graffiti- now the pantry door.
