Charming village house in the historic centre of Ceret This bijou little property has been decorated to a high standard. There are two ensuite bedrooms (bathrooms are small) on the ground and first floor. The ground floor has twin 90" beds which can be zipped together and a thick mattress cover ensures that they also convert to a comfortable large double bed. There is a lovely very well equipped modern kitchen and a skylit office on the second floor and a chic sitting room on the 3rd floor which has a great view of the church tower from the railing. There is a wood-fire in the sitting room, an ethanol burning biofire in the kitchen and a small but attractive terrace with a barbeque. There is an overhead fan as well as a standing fan and an airconditioning unit in the living room in case of extreme heat. There is an overhead fan in the master bedroom. The ground floor bedroom is always cool but there is a standing fan available if necessary. In the kitchen there is a misting fan as well as a standing fan which can also be directed into the office area. It is fully kitted out with all modern amenities. Perfect for a romantic break or for 2 couples/families of up to four. Ceret is the most charming town and area in France and t the situation of this little house is perfect to immerse yourself in the French way of life - everything is a few steps away - gorgeous cafe's, excellent restaurants, mouth-watering bakeries, fabulous wine shops, characterful and funky shops, squares and fountains. The streets are narrow, cobbled and winding and there is a great photograph to be taken around every corner. The famous Ceret weekly market is just outside the door as is the most photographed site in the town - the archways of the Ramparts on Place de Pablo. To really enjoy the region its best to hire a car, but it is perfectly possible to manage without as you can arrive by train to Perpignan from Barcelona or many French cities. From Perpignan there is a regular bus service to Ceret that only costs 1 euro. Ceret is in a fantastic region for outdoor activities - half an hour from the coast (eg. beautiful Collioure), 1.5 hours from ski-ing in winter at excellent resorts Les Angles and Font Romeu. The region has great hiking, canyoning, cycling and walking (there is a beautiful waterfall with a pool just a 15 minute walk from the house) and there are endless places to explore in the region from unspoilt villages, mountains, beaches, wineries - it is also a 15 minute drive from Spain with many famous towns and historic sites within easy reach (Figueres, Cadaques etc). The mountain drive at the foot of the Pyrenees along the tech river is spectacular. A well known wine growing region, Ceret is also famous for its gorgeous Saturday market, cherries, art galleries and many festivals. There are many wonderful restaurants and cafes. Despite all this Ceret remains relatively undiscovered, popular with art lovers and outdoorsy types rather than mass tourist groups. It is only half an hour from the historic city of Perpignan. There are countless markets in the region.
