Not your typical bach, Bay Cottage is a true retreat from the hustle and bustle of busy holiday spots. Set amongst a lush green working orchard, this studio-style cottage is a beautiful, quiet, and romantic escape where you can really switch off. No TV, just a symphony of cicadas, native birds and the wind blowing through the organic avocado and mandarin trees. The bright and comfortable cottage has one bedroom and lounge area, a separate kitchenette, and a bathroom. The kitchenette is well set-up for quick breakfasts and light lunches, while the bedroom/lounge area offers relaxing indoor-outdoor flow onto the surrounding rural scenery. Two sundecks sit on either side of the cottage, one sheltered and one sun-drenched; no matter where the wind blows, you'll find the ideal spot to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, or to breathe in some fresh air while you read your book. When it's time for dinner, light up the BBQ and put your feet up. Alternatively, Bay Cottage is a quick five-minute drive to Takaka township offering some great places to eat. We also highly recommend driving a little bit further, 15-minutes up the coast, to the world-famous Mussel Inn! For days exploring Golden Bay, you are only 10 minutes from Pohara Beach, and there are lots of local walks around the area, including the famous Abel Tasman tracks.
