Stable Cottage is a converted stable block that forms a delightful, single-story holiday home sleeping 4 adults and 2 children, with one ensuite bathroom and one family shower room. The cottage has a large gravel courtyard, with parking and outdoor seating for al fresco dining, plus access to the historic, neighbouring Inn at Fossebridge’s 4-acre gardens and pond. Ideally located for country walks and visiting Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Tetbury and Stow-on-the-Wold. Please note that additional guests above the maximum capacity are not permitted to stay overnight. Set back from the main Fosse Way, Stable Cottage is a long, single-story property that has been cleverly converted from the neighbouring Inn’s 17th-century, five-stall stable block, providing a cosy and comfortable, well-equipped bolthole in the heart of the Cotswolds. The front of Stable Cottage has 11 windows all looking out over a large gravel courtyard with a table, parasol, and seating for six, directly next to the gardens of the Inn at Fossebridge. The gravel courtyard has two gates at either end, one leading to the Inn’s front courtyard and the main road and the other to the neighbouring Lakeside Cottage (a 4-bedroom, sleeps 10+1 holiday let also available through Bolthole Retreats). Inside, the cottage is conveniently divided into bedrooms at the right-hand end and an open-plan living-dining-kitchen area at the left-hand end, with a family shower room at the centre. The living area has comfy seating, with a large flatscreen TV, a well-equipped kitchenette and a dining area to comfortably seat six guests. The cottage sleeps four adults across one king-size ensuite master bedroom and one twin, and two children in a bunkbed room off the master bedroom. Full Property Description Ground Floor Living-Dining Area-Kitchen The cottage’s compact but well-equipped living space has a seating area at the far end with a three-seater sofa, occasional tables with reading lamps, a large Flatscreen TV and two armchairs. The dining area comfortably seats six guests around a rectangular, wooden table and sits next to the kitchenette, which is equipped with everything you need for a self-catering stay, including a dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and fridge with a freezer compartment. Family Shower Room Conveniently located at the centre of the cottage, for all to access, the shower room features polished limestone tiles, a cubicle-style shower, WC, wash basin with mirror, and heated towel rail. Bedroom 1 - Master The master bedroom, at the far end of the cottage, is furnished with a king-size bed, bedside tables with reading lamps, a wardrobe with hangers and hairdryer, a long mirror and a luggage stool. A wide window ledge provides plenty of space for personal items. Ensuite Bathroom The master bedroom’s ensuite features a full-size bath with shower over, a double vanity unit that includes two sinks and two mirrors, a WC and a heated towel rail. Bedroom 2 Back down the hallway (through Bedroom 3) to the cottage’s twin bedroom furnished with two single beds, a shared bedside table and reading lamp and a single wardrobe with hangers. Sunlight streams in through a small window overlooking a garden to the rear of the cottage. Bedroom 3 Created from the hallway outside the master bedroom, with privacy provided by a door from the hallway and a door to the master bedroom. The ‘+2’ bedroom of the cottage is furnished with a bunkbed, with two small single beds (2’6” wide) and a small wardrobe and is intended for children. An ironing board is stored under the bed. A wide window ledge provides plenty of space for personal items. Outside Immediately outside Stable Cottage is a large gravel courtyard where guests can park two cars and relax at a large table, with a parasol and seating for six. A gate leads from the courtyard to the beautiful garden and lake belonging to the neighbouring Inn at Fossebridge, which guests have permission to explore and walk in. The River Coln flows to the side of the Inn, on its journey from Brockhampton to Lechlade, where it joins the River Thames. The gravel courtyard has two large gates at either end, one leading to the Inn’s front courtyard and the main road (Fosse Way) and the other to the neighbouring Lakeside Cottage (a 4-bedroom, sleeps 10+1 holiday let also available through Bolthole Retreats). The owner is available via phone The hamlet of Fossebridge, with its own pub (the Inn at Fossebridge), is on the Fosse Way (the A429), an impressive Roman road that runs in and out of a steep wooded valley and over the River Coln. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful, rolling countryside that the Cotswolds has to offer, with walks up the Coln Valley to the Roman Villa at Chedworth and downstream towards beautiful Bibury and the famous Arlington Row. By Train: There are frequent direct rail services from London Paddington to Kemble station (12 miles away) and to Cheltenham Spa (15 miles away) which take approx. one hour. Other stations to consider are Kingham and Charlbury. Taxis Chedworth Cabs Coln Valley Cabs Stable Cottage is a single-story, ground floor property with no steps, and so is suitable for guests with limited mobility. (Note the shower is a cubicle shower requiring one step up.) The property is set back slightly off the Fosse Way, but traffic can be heard when sat outside and/or inside when the windows are open. A washer/dryer is not provided in the property; however, there is one available next door which guests can use. Please contact Lizzie for further information. Guests staying at Stable Cottage have access – through a latched gate - to the beautiful gardens and pond belonging to the neighbouring Inn at Fossebridge.
