Whispering Pines Farmhouse
Originally a log cabin, the house was renovated in 2019-20. As a part of the extensive Devil’s Hole Ranch, this 120 acre parcel is planted in corn. The fenced in backyard, fire-pit, grilling area, pine grove, meadows, & woods are family friendly. Songbirds abound! Enjoy a "staycation" or work from home with 8 MBPS high speed internet while enjoying rural living. Biking, canoeing, hiking, fishing at nearby Lake McCrary, & visiting Amish are popular pastimes. Near Ft. McCoy, military discount. The space Secluded, private, and spacious the farmhouse can accommodate 10 people. Children and pets are welcome, but should be attended while outside. The two downstairs bedrooms are newly remodeled and have large closets. The upstairs main bedroom has a new private bathroom and a large walk in closet (with fainting couch and a window is the 4th bedroom). The living room is a north side addition with two couches plus a queen futon couch. There is a formal dining area, downstairs full bathroom, utility sink, attached "mini" green house, enclosed back porch, dedicated work space, and a large kitchen. The kitchen has a "Hoosier" style unit with open shelves for guests to store food items that they bring. The refrigerator is spacious and has a freezer. The stove has a microwave above it. Paper plates, bowls, and plastic utensils are provided, but there are dishes, cups and silverware as well as pots and pans, a cookie sheet and some baking dishware. A toaster, blender, and coffeemaker with coffee saves packing these items. The new self igniting gas grill with grilling utensils and hot pads is located on a cement pad outside the back door. There are folding camp chairs to use in the spacious backyard around the firepit. Firewood is provided. For people with mobility issues, the back porch door provides easier access to the house than the front door which is on the deck. Guest access The property is easily accessible from Tomah, Sparta or the village of Norwalk. Cty. Hwy. T north of Norwalk has marvelous views and leads to Jigsaw Road which is a dead end road. The road sign for Jigsaw is quite faded, so using GPS is a good idea so you don't miss it! Drive .4 miles on Jigsaw to Jean Avenue which is on the right. 4-wheel drive is not necessary as the township maintains Jean Avenue which leads directly to the house. There is adequate parking for several vehicles as the driveway circles the old windmill. Other things to note The farmstead also has a silo, barn, shed and other out buildings. There is also a vacant house that is scheduled for removal. Guests need to use extreme caution near these buildings as they are not entirely SAFE. However, there are acres of meadows and woods along with a large yard and neat pine groves all awaiting exploration! The ranch has paid hunting leases for deer and turkey season, so the woods would not be suitable for hiking during this time of year.
