Burgundy: spacious detached stone cottage in quiet village, spectacular views
This tastefully renovated stone cottage in the village of Benoisey, with magnificent views, has been sympathetically restored by its owners and retains its French character, whilst containing all modcons. The kitchen/diner with its original flagstone floor and woodburner is fully equipped, and there is a separate utility room with WC. The sitting room has a magnificent table seating up to 10 as well as a second woodburner, TV, DVD and leather sofa bed. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms, both with double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. The 2nd bedroom with its fantastic exposed beams, also has a double futon, and there is a travel cot available if required. The upstairs bathroom has bath (with overhead shower), basin and toilet. There are 2 vaulted cellars and a large patio/ seating area with a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture. In addition, there are many games available, including boule. The garden includes flower borders, shrubs and fruit trees and borders onto farmland. Built in 1840, La Cheneviere is a traditional French country cottage, which has been tastefully restored by its owners, since they bought it in 2004. It is close to Montbard where the TGV stops but it is a very quiet location. La Cheneviere is very much a home from home, where you can relax and 'escape from it all', reassured that the owners have thought of most things you may require- be it a sunbed in Summer or a sledge in Winter! The truly spectacular views, together with the well considered (part-covered) outside space means that relaxing on the patio or in the garden during the warmer months is sublime. The Tour of Burgundy by cycle runs along the Burgundy canal for 580 km. The canal is just at the bottom of the valley from Benoisey. http://www.le-tour-de-bourgogne-a-velo.com/ An article about cycling in the area around Benoisey is at http://experiencefrancebybike.com/bicycling-the-burgundy-canal-for-100-euro-a-day/ The welcoming atmosphere of the house, with woodburners in both reception rooms, means that it can be equally enjoyed in Winter, especially, perhaps, after a bracing walk along the Canal or across the snowy hills! All this adds up to providing you with a holiday home that, despite the plethora of visitor attractions in the local vicinity, you will always be happy to return home. As many of our visitors will testify!
