Town: Pooley Bridge is a small village on the north shore of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park, taking its name from a large pool left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word a 250 year old bridge built over it. The village offers all of the essentials, including many traditional inns and tea rooms, as well as a convenience store stocking essentials. The Ullswater Steamers depart from the lake, offering a relaxing cruise to Glenridding and Howtown, whilst a short walk up Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains.
