The exclusive resort of Goldeneye is the ultimate in luxurious beach living. Created around the Jamaican beachside home of James Bond creator, Sir Ian Fleming, the resort offers low-key yet sophisticated accommodation in an idyllic and secluded setting. This one-bed villa is the perfect romantic hideaway – a traditional Caribbean cottage with jalousie windows yet refined with modern comforts. Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, at the front of the villa is a huge verandah – a wonderful spot to relax and listen to the sound of exotic birdsong and the waves gently lapping the soft golden sand. Stroll through the door into this simple, yet elegantly designed living area complete with a Queen-size daybed decorated with colourful batik-patterned cushions and a comfortable armchair. The adjacent kitchen area has everything you could need, being well-equipped with a retro-style Smeg fridge, fully stocked with chilled drinks, and a stylish Italian-designed oven and stovetop. Music lovers will appreciate the selection of Island Records tracks included with the sound system, and there is a television in the living area and in the bedroom if you even get around to turning it on. At the rear of the villa is the bedroom, which can be separated by a curtain, with its custom-made King-size bed, fitted with luxurious 400-thread count bedlinen, elegant writing desk and en-suite bathroom. Lie back in the large, claw-foot bath for a soothing soak, or choose to head outside into the romantic outdoor bathroom, where you can revel in an indulgent open-air shower in complete privacy, surrounded by lush plants. Outside the wonderful verandah ensures outdoor living in comfort, with a dining table and chairs, and comfortable padded loungers. A ceiling fan complements the cooling sea breeze. In the morning, enjoy freshly ground coffee from the Blue Mountains as you gaze at the azure sea, or relax together with a chilled drink later on after enjoying a dip in the pool. What we love about it Experience the very best of this stunningly beautiful island, with a stay in the famous Goldeneye resort Enjoy privacy and seclusion in a beautiful setting, with soft, white sand and a glorious lagoon The perfect hideaway for a couple seeking an unforgettable stay in a unique place with the romantic associations of James Bond What you should know Due to the villa’s location near a lagoon, some guests may be troubled by mosquitoes so we advise that guests take precautions Location Set on Jamaica’s north coast, Goldeneye is located in Oracabessa Bay, 45 miles from the island’s capital, Kingston. Most flights arrive in Montego Bay, 73 miles to the west, but for guests arriving by private jet, the resort has its own airport – Ian Fleming International. Famous as the writer’s island home, Goldeneye – and this stretch of spectacular coastline, with its secret coves and lush jungle – provided the inspiration for the James Bond stories, and it is still a stunningly beautiful and romantic place, evoking a magical era of glamour and sophistication. Guests may well choose to spend their entire time at the resort, enjoying the privacy and tranquillity. With stunning white sand beaches, beautiful pools, relaxed bars, a stylish restaurant, a spa, tennis courts and various watersports to enjoy, you may well find you need nothing more. However, Jamaica has plenty to see if you feel inclined to explore beyond this secluded paradise. Just 20 minutes from Goldeneye is the bustling town of Ocho Rios, home to the famous Dunns River Falls, and to the spectacular Blue Hole – a natural limestone sinkhole filled with azure water, also known as Secret Falls. Jump into the water or swing from the rope in this magical, tropical setting. Dunns River Falls are exhilarating – a natural landscape of cascading falls where you can swim and paddle in this tropical paradise. The spectacular Blue Mountains are well worth a visit for guests wishing to see more of the island’s beautiful natural scenery. Guided tours are available which will take you up into the mountains where you can go hiking or mountain biking. Explore the hillside villages, catch a glimpse of some of the island’s native birds and butterflies, and enjoy a refreshing swim in a waterfall pool. The Blue Mountains are also famous for the coffee which grows there, one of the best and most expensive in the world. Guided tours will take you to visit one of the many plantations where you can learn about the production process, from bean to cup. Pay a day trip to Kingston, the island capital, a buzzing metropolis that is also home to Devon House. This wonderfully elegant mansion was built by one of the island’s first millionaires in 1881. Take a tour of this beautiful property and gardens and be sure to try the famous Devon House ice cream, widely regarded as some of the best ice cream in the world. Music lovers will want to pay a visit to the Bob Marley Museum. Housed in the Marley’s former home, it pays tribute to the legendary musician with an interesting collection of his prized possessions on display and a theatre where a short film tells the story of his life. It is advisable to book a guided tour in advance as the museum gets very busy. Kids Best Suited For: All Ages This lovely villa is perfect as a romantic retreat for two, but the Queen-size daybed means that little ones can come along two, as it sleeps two children up to the age of twelve for an additional fee. Although there are no child-specific facilities available, such as kids clubs or poolside entertainment, the soft golden sand and warm, clear water offers a paradise for younger guests to enjoy. Slightly older children will appreciate the superb snorkelling at the resort, and there are also daily boat trips for guests to enjoy. A gentle trip out on the glass bottom boat is ideal for younger children, whereas slightly older ones may delight in the speed of a motor boat ride. For activities beyond the exclusive comfort of Goldeneye, head to nearby Ocho Rios, home to the stunning Konoko Falls and Park, where families can immerse themselves in the Jamaica’s natural beauty. Explore the spectacular tropical garden with its meandering paths, tinkling streams and wooden bridges before climbing the spectacular waterfall and bathing in the beautiful natural pools. For an experience kids and parents will treasure for ever, Dolphin Cove – also in Ocho Rios – offers guests the opportunity to swim with dolphins in the sea and get up close to stingrays. Little ones can stay safely in the shallows with their parents and interact with these beautiful, intelligent creatures. The Jungle Trail is also guaranteed to delight, with exotic birds, iguanas and snakes to see up close. In the hills above Ocho Rios is Mystic Mountain. This fantastic, environmentally-friendly attraction offers visitors a unique way to experience Jamaica’s beautiful rainforests and will go down a storm with slightly older children. A cable car carries guests up the mountain, offering breath-taking views of the hillside and sea below. Once at the top, you can choose your means of descent. A series of ziplines whisks visitors down through the trees from one platform to the next. Alternatively, get strapped in for a ride on the rainforest bobsled that sends guests hurtling down the mountain on a custom-built track through the glorious tropical foliage.
