Close to the town, beaches, restaurants, and has a great come home feeling of getting away from everything to enjoying your very own space. Our pool is also a few yards away for your enjoyment. We have a BBQ for balmy night outdoor eating. Redecorated in tropical shades to give a serene, relaxed atmosphere. Work from home? We have fiber optic WiFi 25 Mbps. I have just put The Rest back on the rental market! The Rest is separate from the main house built on a hillside overlooking cow pastures, the ocean and the bay, the town in the distance (5 min. away by car) and views of the majestic mountains. It is open plan with a queen size bed, hot shower, fully equipped kitchen, dining areas both inside and outside. A BBQ is available too. We have recently redecorated to give The Rest a more Caribbean turquoise and conch shell ocean feel. So restful! The yard is full of colorful tropical flowers and a path leads to a very private swimming pool with lounges and a tiki hut. The beach down the road is also fun to visit. It has a beach restaurant serving fresh seafood and drinks. Luperon town is within walking distance (about 20 min) or 5 min. by car. The beach is a 12 min. walk from your door. Many restaurants and bars line the streets of Luperon, and many boaters, on their way to or from the Caribbean and Bahamas, stop here to enjoy our little town. We have Jose Tours who has been a friend of mine for many years, can arrange horse riding or the waterfall trip Our area is residential, so very quiet and safe. Attractions in the area include a 20 min. car ride to Isabella for fish/lobster, sun downers on the beach. Punta Russia, is a bit further west, also has beach restaurants. A waterfall is 40 minutes away where tourists enjoy sliding and jumping down the falls, great fun! Small grocery stores are in Luperon, but major shopping (just like home) are in Puerto Plata and Santiago, our two bigger north coast cities. Motoconchos (motor bikes) and gwagwas (taxis) are a phone call away. A luxury bus also stops in Luperon that will take you across the island to Santo Domingo, the capital for about US$10.00. Luperon will give you the experience of enjoying a small Dominican town, and The Rest will give you the feeling of peace, independence and a place to call home. Please, no smoking inside The Rest! See my other listing, Cool ocean breeze, stunning views - we've called it Sugar Shack! You have your own private entrance. Lots of outdoor space with rocking chairs and an outdoor dining area. The pool is a short distance away with loungers under a tiki hut. We have a wooden deck overlooking the valley, a beautiful setting to share a glass of wine. There is always someone to take care of your needs. Our neighbor Maria, will be happy to prepare Dominican Dinners for you. Just ask! Nino is our taxi friend and can collect you at the airport in Puerto Plata or Santiago, day or night. Jose can arrange tours and horse riding. For longer stays, we can arrange housekeeping and laundry. My favorite is fresh battered and fried fish on the beach, feet in the sand. It's 2 minutes by car or 12 minutes walk from your door. Wonderful beach, music and just a fun place to hang out. The restaurant has palm thatch shades and seating. Luperon has some great fun Gringo and local restaurant bars. Las Velas at Puerto Blanco Marina, la Casita de Astrid also has pool tables, D La France for great dishes and pizza, Las Palmera is open air and Nilsa is a wonderful cook and also makes a good nourishing plate of the day. She has Happy Hour 4 till 6 and BBQ on Wednesdays. Wendy's Bar has a Karaoke party every Friday night. The North has also just opened and has great food and drinks. Sunset beach at La Isabella, 20 minutes away by car, has Jury's kiosk offering cocktails, pasta and thin crust pizza. Marlyn's Restaurant has really fresh fish, conch, lobster all served under a thatch overlooking the beach where the fishermen pull up their colorful boats. You can also visit Christopher Columbus's Museum. It is said that he arrived in this bay. A little further along from this beach is Fricolandia, The easiest way to get around the Luperon area, if you do not want to rent a car, is to use the mototaxi. These are 3 wheeler motorbikes with a sitting area for 2 people. They are cheap and on call all the time. A bus leaves daily from Luperon town that goes all the way to Santo Domingo, the capital on the South coast. It leaves at 1:30pm and arrives in SD at about 6:30pm. The cost is about US$10.00. Caribe Tours is another bus company that services the whole island, even Haiti. They have a drop off stop in Imbert (on the main road leading to Luperon) but you can only start a trip in the cities of Puerto Plata or Santiago, an easy bus ride away from Luperon via Imbert. Puerto Plata and Santiago are our closest airports. Our taxi friend Nino can meet you, day or night, or rental cars are available in Luperon or at the airports. If you are using a credit or debit card in the DR, please be sure to call your bank.(the number at the back of your card) The bank and the grocery store in Luperon has ATM and at the grocery store you can draw up to 10,000 pesos at a time. (on most cards)There are several money exchanges in Luperon, US$, Canadian $ and Euro, namely Claro and Jumbo.
