Hideaway Cottage is a stylish, dog friendly holiday home located in the village of High Shincliffe. Just two miles from Durham City, you can enjoy the best of both worlds here - a quiet retreat and a city centre break. Sleeping up to four guests, Hideaway Cottage is ideal for family staycations and couples getaways. Hideaway Cottage has a welcoming and cosy living area with a large sofa, a matching armchair and a flat screen TV. Shaker in style, the mint green kitchen is both stylish and practical. Fully equipped, you’ll have everything you could need to prepare meals easily. The dining area also shares this space and includes a tall table with four leather stools. Upstairs on the first floor, you’ll find two bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed with premium bed linens and plush bedding. The spacious room has large windows with shutters, a wardrobe and a dressing table. Ideal for children and teenagers, the second bedroom is a twin. Ultra modern and clean, the family bathroom has a large walk in shower, WC and vanity unit. Outside you’ll find an enclosed patio with outdoor seating. Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. There is on street parking available outside of the property on a first come, first served basis. We’re always available for our guests so please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Hideaway Cottage is located in the village of High Shincliffe, just two miles South-East of Durham City. With traditional local pubs and a quiet village feel, you’ll be perfectly placed to enjoy a relaxed retreat whilst you’re just a stone's throw from Durham City. Named ‘One of the Best Cities in the World to Visit in 2020’ by The Independent and voted ‘The Best City in the UK’ by Condé Nast’s traveller magazine readers, Durham is packed with history and charm. It has the perfect blend of medieval heritage and a modern, vibrant feel. The cobbled streets are peppered with restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. Take a leisurely stroll near the River Wear which continues on past Durham Cathedral and the 900 year old Durham Castle. Durham Cathedral is an outstanding building originally constructed between 1093 and 1133. The Norman architecture is especially important as it is now the oldest surviving building with a stone vaulted ceiling of such a large scale. You can climb the Tower’s 325 steps for incredible views of the city and countryside. If you’re a fan of Harry Potter, head to the Chapter House where they filmed one of the Hogwarts classrooms. The centre of Durham is a short 8 minute drive from Hideaway Cottage. Durham train station is 10-minutes away via car so nearby towns and cities can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Durham. Hop on the Arriva 6 route to visit Barnard Castle or the number 22 which travels through Seaham and Sunderland.
