A good nights sleep is paramount for our guests, the master bed is a super king with a quality deep sprung mattress & topper. Upstairs in the Loft Chambre, the zip and link bed with deep sprung mattress and topper can be set up as either a super-king or two 3ft singles. (Please advise your preference when booking). In addition, the mezzanine with its quiet reading area provides a sprung mattress sofa bed for up to additional two guests if required (please discuss prior to booking). A travel cot, changing table with integrated baby bath, ‘Tripp Trapp’ high chair and a booster seat can be made available on request when booking, subject to availability. The cottage has a large fully equipped country kitchen with a wood burning stove providing the ideal area to dine and entertain. The dining area has a farmhouse table, and the dresser contains a wide range of glassware and a 8 place setting of beautiful Denby crockery, including serving dishes and oven to tableware. There is a dual aspect lounge with sublime views down the valley cross cornfields on one side, and your private garden to the other. Equipped with a flat screen tv, Freeview UK satellite channels, and comfortably furnished, the lounge provides the perfect area to relax after a day out exploring. Traditional terracotta floors and wood shutters ensure the cottage is cool in the summer months, while full central heating and a large log burner ensures you are warm and comfortable for those out of season breaks. Your first basket of logs is complimentary. The private garden with traditional stone walls, large terrace and soft planting has steps up to a large lawned area with fruit trees, providing shade and seating areas to relax and take in the peace and quiet. The large sun terrace is the perfect home for your own private wood fired hot tub, with air jets and ambient lighting, you can relax in the sun or take in the clear night sky with a glass of wine. The garden is equipped with parasol, table and chairs and a bbq for out door dining. To the right, the cottage garden has a secret ... an enclosed walled garden with climbing roses, a palm tree, an olive tree and an abundance of herbs. Wooden doors from the walled garden open out onto a lavender lined pathway giving you your own private access to the 10x5 metre pool and views up the Chatignac valley. Pool - The pool is 10m x 5m with a depth ranging from 1m up to 1.80m in the deep end. Equipped with sun loungers, parasols and a cabana, we also provide pool towels and pool baskets for your stay. A welcome basket with local Charentise produce is provided on arrival, and when in season, fruit from our trees. Dogs with 'well behaved owners' are welcome (max 2 per gite). Dog bowls and doggy treats provided! Please note that while your gardens are private, they are not fenced off, so leads are required at all times please. We have a large field at the back which is ideal for dog walking. The owners have two very friendly Golden Retrievers. *Our other property is La Maison du Charpentier We live in one of the houses in the hamlet, we will meet and greet you on arrival, and aim to be available should you have any queries or we can help with anything. However, we try to be as discreet as possible, leaving you in peace and quiet to enjoy your holiday. Chez Lussaud is situated next to the pretty village of Chatignac with its active events calendar, tennis court, mini golf area and pétanque court. Within 3kms is the beautiful village of Brossac with restaurants, a village store, bakery, butchers, tourist information, hairdressers and a launderette, as well as a large swimming lake with water sports, mini golf, a clubhouse and an active social calendar throughout the summer. Surrounded by beautiful villages, Chez Lussaud is perfectly situated to explore the local area, by foot - there are numerous walking routes for all levels, or you have the quieter country roads if you prefer cycling. With stunning views and open skies, it is also an artists paradise! Not to mention ornithologists and due to its location, the skies have no ambient light at night - perfect for a budding star-gazer! The market town of Chalais is within 7km and encompasses all the amenities associated with a medium sized town, including two large supermarkets. The Chateau des Tallyrand - a Relais Chateaux with a drawbridge has an excellent restaurant. There are numerous other restaurants in the local area to cater for all tastes. Being on the border of departments of the Poitou-Charente, Charente Maritime, Gironde and the Dordogne, Chez Lussaud is centrally located for a wide range of interests and days out. Please note a car is essential to get around and make the very best of what the area has to offer. The cities of Bordeaux (1 hour by car or train) and Angouleme (35 mins) are definitely worth a visit. Royan (1 hr 10) is a picturesque seaside resort with long, flat sandy beaches and safe swimming areas. The ‘beaux village’ of Aubeterre sur Dronne (20 mins) with its cobbled streets, stunning underground church, restaurants and local shops, it is a must for any visitor. Cognac (Golf) and St Emillion are within an hours drive from Chez Lussaud with extensive wine tours on offer. However, there are many vineyards not to be missed in the local area, providing an interesting day out with the added advantage of sampling the finished products - note in particular the local Pineau and Berneuil cognac! Each town has its own market day selling regional produce and there are also many brocantes to explore. Pool - Please note that the pool is only open from May to the first week in October, but this may vary depending on the weather. Hand sanitiser is supplied at your individual pool entrance, and there is a disinfectant station to clean down your sun lounger after use. We also disinfect pool furniture at the end of each day. Hot Tubs - Your own wood fired hot tub is available to use all year. The first basket of logs is with our compliments, there is a small charge for additional baskets after that. Hot tubs are emptied and disinfected before refilling for each new booking.
