Villa Theodora

Villa Theodora is centrally located on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. It is ideal for large family gatherings or weddings. In a largely open and expanding design the large kitchen, sitting, dining, TV and billiard areas connected and flow out onto large balconies with spectacular views. Bedrooms and bathrooms are tastefully appointed. A second living room and kitchen connect to the outdoors. Outdoors boast an attractive garden, large swimming pool, children’s play area and gas barbecue. An elegant staircase leads up to the large terrace on the main (second) floor. The terrace spans the front of the house and wrap around on the western side towards the billiard room. Cross the terrace to enter the house through the front door. The front door open into a large expansive living area. To the left is a formal sitting area nestled around a beautiful marble fireplace. To the right is a large dining table reflected in the large mirror hanging on the far wall. Cross the granite floor, straight towards a large island separating the sitting area from the kitchen. The kitchen is large, light and well equipped. It boasts two fridge freezer combinations, two ultra silent dishwashers, a built in microwave oven and a Bertazzoni gas range. There is a small balcony on the far side of the kitchen. Adjacent to, just past the dining area, through a large open arch, you will find a large area containing the billiard table and television room. The television room has a large television and a stereo system. There are two doors leading from the billiard room onto two separate terraces. On this floor you will also find a bedroom and a bathroom. Take the staircase or the elevator to the third floor. On the third floor there is a wide hallway connecting the three bedrooms and three bathrooms. In the hallway is a piano and a games table. All bedrooms are connected to balconies. The master bedroom has a walk in closet and ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The third bedroom has a bunk bed. The bunk beds bottom is a double bed and it is possible for two smaller people to sleep here. The third bathroom has a washer/dryer combination in the closet. The first floor could be self containing. It has its own kitchen and living room. There is a queen sized sofa bed, a desk and a television in the living room. There are also three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. All three bedrooms has queen sized beds and one has an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Two bedrooms, the kitchen and the living room has a door leading to the outside patio containing a gas barbecue and a dining area covered by the second floor terrace. The laundry room containing a washer and dryer, is on the first level. There is a garage on the first level and an open carport close to the house. Both can take two cars. There are air conditioning/heating units in each room. Just use the remote control to turn the units on or of or to adjust the temperature. There are two beautiful marble fireplaces. One is in the formal living area and the second in the billiard room. They are only decorative. Please do not make fires in either one. The house has a large gate at the entrance. The gate is operated with a remote control. There is a children’s play area. It has swings, a slide, a doll house and a fort. Children should always be supervised while in the play area. Please keep the gate closed at all times. The swimming pool area is fenced. Please note that despite the fence children can still get into the area. Always supervise children carefully. Gates should be closed at all times. The house has a beautiful garden with three separate lawn areas. There are many tall trees and a few palms in the garden. There are also many flowering shrubs. We have recently renovated the house. Because we really love the house we enjoyed (or more accurately) we enjoyed most of the process. All the old electrical and plumbing has been replaced. There are granite floors throughout the house. We acquired all furniture and accessories because we liked it and not because we just wanted to satisfy potential renters basic needs. Guests will rent and have access to all living spaces of the villa. Villa Theodora is on the beautiful Greek island of Corfu. It is nestled against a slope overlooking the surrounding hills, villages, Corfu town and the sea. It is in a forest next to the Palace of Achilleion also known as Palace of Sissi. The Villa is centrally located and all of Corfu’s attractions are within reach. Being on an island there are many beautiful beaches closeby. To mention a few: Pelekas Beach (about 12 km or 20 minutes drive from the villa) is a beautiful sandy beach with spectacular sunsets. It offers a lot of sport activities. It has volleyball, tennis and basketball courts. There are also a variety of traditional restaurants and bars. Included amongst these are one of the best restaurants in Corfu. Tortuga restaurant is part of the hotel Mayor. Popular Glyfada beach is a sandy beach about 25 minutes (14.7 km) drive from the villa. It has numerous nice restaurants, bars and a water park in the sea. If you are still bored you can do other water sports such as windsurfing or water skiing. Does your body need some pampering? Enjoy a massage right there on the beach. Agios Gordios (about 9.6 km or about 15 minutes drive away), is a relative quiet sandy beach ideal for families looking for a more relaxing, peaceful time. There are traditional restaurants and bars. Benitses beach is the closest beach to the villa. (It is 5 km or about a 12 minutes drive away.) It is a gravel beach next to the city of Benitses. Benitses is a tourist city with a variety of restaurants and bars. In Benitses you can find cars, motorbikes, quads, bikes and boats for rent or book a boat trip to a nearby destination. You definitely should find time to drift a little further afield and visit the following beaches: Palaiokastritsa ( 27km or about 30 minutes drive away) is a very popular tourist destination. Palaiokastritsa has unique beaches and landscape. There are numerous caves on different beaches. To explore rent a boat or if you feel particularly active rent a water bicycle and paddle to a nearby beach and cave. Apart from numerous restaurants, bars, souvenir stores there is also Angelokastro or Castle of Angels built in Byzantine times. If you are in a romantic mood visit Canal d'Amour (41km, about 1 hours drive away). Legend has it that if two people swim together through Canal D'Amour they will fall in love. Despite the romantic legend it is suitable for both couples and families. The beach is small and cozy, tucked in between rock formations. Other tourist destinations worth considering include the following: Corfu town is a popular, beautiful, old European city. Tourists from all over the world give it a cosmopolitan feel. It has many narrow, cobblestone streets flanked by old buildings, filled with many restaurants and bars, reminiscent of Venice. The city centre is also very close, about 7 km from the Villa. The Palace of Achilleion or the Palace of Sissi (Empress Sissi from Austria built the palace) is very close to the house. The palace’s main theme is Achilles from Greek mythology. Achilleion's location provides panoramic views of Corfu town to the north and of the southern part of the island. The palace garden is impeccably landscaped. The biggest waterpark in the north of Greece, the Aqualand Park, is only 11.6 km or about 15 minutes drive away from the villa. There are numerous restaurants, tavernas, eateries and pizzerias close to the villa. Consider Pouli tsi kotas Taverna not even half a kilometer fro the villa. It is a cosy, traditional taverna with very tasty food and wine offered at very reasonable prices. A little further away is La spiaggia restaurant by Aeolos. It is one of the best pizzerias on Corfu. Most services and attractions are reasonably close but public transport is not well developed. If you plan on exploring the island exhaustively, taxi service will get expensive. To make the most of your stay, although not totally essential, it would be recommended to rent a car. Practical considerations: There is a general store or supermarket called Proton very close (0.3 km) to the villa. They should satisfy most basic needs. They sell food, vegetables, general groceries and alcohol. We particularly enjoy the fruit ,not just from Proton, but on the island in general. The Villa is very close to the airport (6.5 km or about 15 minutes driving) and close to the port (9 km or about 20 minutes driving). In case of accident or illness there are a lot of pharmacies, a day clinic and a hospital close by.
