A short walk from Palazzo Torri is the church of St. Eufemia, where one can admire frescoes datable to the 1500s attributable to the painter Floriano Ferramola. A few kilometres from here there are many important monuments of Franciacorta, such as the Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa in Provaglio d’Iseo, a Romanesque building built by Clunic monks in the XI century from where there is a beautiful view over the Natural Reserve of Sebino Peat Moss, or the Abbey of San Nicola in Rodengo Saiano, founded in the XI century by Clunic monks and enriched in the XV by Olivetani monks with frescoes, decorations and paintings or even the Castle of Bornato, with medieval walls that surround Villa Orlando, built in the 1600s. Going towards the lake, a short rest in the historic centre of Iseo is recommended. From here one can have a boat-trip on the lake and stop in Montisola, the biggest lake island in Europe, to discover the local traditions and handcrafts. Following the side of the lake, one can take the street to Zone to see its unusual pyramids capped by a rock which protect the soil below it while the rest is washed away by erosion, or arrive in Pisogne to visit the Church of Santa Maria della Neve, defined “the Sistine Chapel of the poor” by G. Testori, with frescoes that represented Scenes of Christ Passion, painted by the Brescian painter Gerolamo Romanino in the 1530s.
