Stay in a former chocolate factory! Located in the heart of idyllic Hopewell Borough. Large 1-bedroom with private entrance. High ceilings, architectural interest throughout. Open living/dining room, office, full bath, utility room with washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave. Galleries, antiques, restaurants, theater, museum, parks/hiking trails are all within walking distance. 15 minutes to New Hope & Lambertville. 15 minutes to Princeton and its trains to NYC & Philly. LGBTQ friendly? Yes! The space is comfortable, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. It is also old and quirky. If you prize plastic perfection, this place is a poor match for you. Most notably, the floors of the living/dining room and bedroom are painted concrete with a decadent look. I call it “louche”, like a Rolling Stone. Many of the fixtures—including doors, windows, and wooden furniture—look old. The reason is that they are old. Please note that Hopewell has “hard” water, which means we get mineral deposits on our plumbing fixtures. Finally, entry to your apartment is through my backyard. The yard is respectable but at this time it is nothing fancy. To my humble delight, guests love their time here. Here in Hopewell Borough you can walk to anything you are likely to need. Of course, you can also drive. Parking is free, here and all over the Borough. You may park one vehicle on the property’s driveway and another vehicle on the street directly in front of the building. The only time street parking is limited is during heavy snowfall, when snow-plowing is required. At those times the town allows parking on the jug handle in front of the old train station building. Fortunately, that’s diagonally across the street from the property, so you won’t need to go far. For Tesla electric vehicles, 240V charging is available right on the driveway. You will need to let me know, pay a per-hook-up fee, and adjust your charging rate to 24amps, to avoid tripping the circuit breaker. If you do not know how to do this, no worries. Just ask me and I can assist you. I live in the building, so check-in time is flexible. Just send me a message if you expect to arrive considerably later than 3pm. If you need help during your stay, please text me. With prior planning I am often available to babysit on-site. I also have a young son who enjoys playing with new children. Otherwise we give you complete privacy. You can walk to anything you are likely to need. You will find no chain stores or fast food restaurants. All businesses are locally owned. Madame Cupcake bakery is right next door. A park with playground and basketball hoop is right across the street. Just a couple doors away you will find artists’ studios (Firedance, John Shedd), antique shops (the Tomato Factory consortium), and a gift shop (Twine). One block away, Aunt Chubby’s diner is open most days for breakfast and lunch. Boro Bean cafe is also one block away. Nomad Pizza makes amazing dinner, also one block away. Additional restaurants such as Tomatillo’s, Otto Burger, Hopewell Bistro, Peasant Grill, and Antimo’s and markets including Brick Farm and two convenience stores are also within walking distance. Additional galleries, antique shops (like Mahbubeh’s!), gift shops, pet supplies, children’s bookstore (Bear and the Books), Hopewell Theater, Hopewell Library, Hopewell Museum, Hopewell Pharmacy, multiple churches, playgrounds (Borough Park, Hopewell Elementary), hiking trails, and post office are all within eight blocks. Hopewell Borough is walkable and also has plenty of free parking. By Uber or private car, Princeton is a 15-minute drive and has train service to New York Penn Station, Newark International Airport, and Center City Philadelphia. New Hope and Lambertville are also a 15-minute drive. Trenton Airport is a 10-minute drive. Driving to either NYC or Philadelphia takes roughly one hour. I adore dogs, and Hopewell has lots of preserved open space and hiking trails that are great for them. I welcome pups whose weight totals 80 pounds or less. I provide water and food dishes, a stack of old towels, and a blanket for the couch. In addition to Fido’s food and leash, you might want to bring a pet bed and toys. To avoid nuisance barking, destructive behavior, and heart-breaking loneliness, please do not leave your dog unattended in the apartment. Normally I do not accept cats. I like them but I lack feline toilet facilities.
