With its garden backing onto the River Roeburn in the friendly conservation village of Wray in the Forest of Bowland AONB, the spacious and characterful Tailor's Cottage is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors and wild swimming, cosy evenings in front of a wood-burning stove, long soaks in a real bathtub, and evenings at the welcoming village pub. Stunning woodland, hills and riverside walks begin at the front door, and the mountains of the Yorkshire Dales are just a ten minute drive. The Riverside Tailor's Cottage is a double-fronted Victorian property on the banks of the River Roeburn. It began life as a village tailor's workshop. The age of the cottage is respected with period details and fittings with the odd industrial twist which nod to its interesting past plus a few classic mid-twentieth century design pieces. This is a well-sized cottage furnished comfortably and decorated in a calm palette of colours, quality furnishings and textiles, designed to help you completely unwind. On the ground floor a generous lounge and study area with TV, books, board games and DVDs, and well-equipped kitchen open plan to dining room. Upstairs are three generous double bedrooms (two with kingsize beds, the third with two singles) and a high-end family bathroom with stunning cast-iron roll-top double-ended bath, large walk in shower and traditional high-flush loo. Add a games room with pool, table football, darts and classic PlayStation games, as well as a laundry/ storage on the lower ground floor, ensure plenty of space for 6 guests. Outside is a walled garden with patio and table and chairs beside the river. We think we have the nicest al-fresco dining spot in the north of England! Guests have the whole cottage and garden to themselves. I'm on hand if you need me as I live just a few minutes away and work from home. However, I completely respect your privacy at the cottage. StayUpNorth is our trading name but this is our only cottage so we can devote time to look after it - and our guests - properly. Wray is a historic conservation village with bags of character - it's a huddle of pretty old cottages with a cobbly river running through it. Wray is in an AONB and surrounded by stunning hills and woodland, plus the Yorkshire Dales at a stone's throw. The locals say hello to you with a genuine smile, the village pub is delightfully old-fashioned and friendly and serves great food using local ingredients and real ales, there's a village shop and post office, as well as village tea rooms for delicious lunches and cakes. There are numerous really lovely local walks and a very special wild swimming spot which we share details of with our guests. There are fabulous woodland, riverside and hill walks and cycle routes from the front door of the cottage, for which there are route guides left for you. We do recommend that you come in a car or with bikes so that you can get around easily. You'll be able to drive to the Yorkshire Dales in as little as 10 minutes, the coast, woodlands and wildlife of Silverdale and Arnside AONB in around 25 minutes, and the Lake District in around 40 minutes. The nearest large town is Lancaster about 20 minutes away. I’m pleased to have opened this special three bedroom cottage to guests after previously having run a tiny holiday cottage a little further away and wanting to offer guests more space and be on hand if needed.
