Welcome to Karool Cottages, your country getaway in Mernda Victoria. This historic 1853 cottage was built of locally quarried bluestone, 'Karool' being the local aboriginal word for bluestone. It originally served as a shepherd's hut, grain store, and carriage room. The cottages and facilities were renovated in 2016 to include all of the creature comforts and amenities to provide you with a private five-star experience right in the heart of farm country. You enter Karool Cottages and are welcomed by the warmth and charm of 19th century stone, brick and timber, tastefully decorated and re-equipped for the needs of today. There are two separate queen sized bedrooms and a third lofted bedroom with two single beds (these can be pushed together to form another queen). Enjoy cooking a country meal from your fully-furnished kitchen overlooking the paddocks, complete with gas range/oven, full refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Seating and table space in the living & dining room, your group will relish in the comforts of the farm lifestyle. After watching a breathtaking sunset over the west paddock enjoy a blissful night of sleep in your farmhouse bedroom. Throughout the luxuriously appointed cottages you will be charmed by reminders of the cottages' history. For example, in the exposed original bricks handmade by the original convict builders, you can even spot finger and thumb prints. A range of local artifacts from the era of construction are also displayed throughout the cottages. A lovely garden to walk around and play in, as well as a pool which is great in the summer months. Karool Cottages are located a convenient 30 minutes from Melbourne's International Tullamarine Airport, and less than an hour's drive from the city. There is over 100 acres of farm land you are able to explore. Including Cattle, horses, many wild Kangaroos, many native birds and more. Although situated on a rural farm.
