Children over 12 only Anakiwa 401 was one of the first houses to be built in the bay in 1926. We've renovated throughout to a high standard, yet maintained its historic charm and character. It is well-liked by guests for its homely feel and relaxed atmosphere. Located right by the sandy beach and at the end of the Queen Charlotte Track, it's the ideal place for relaxing or doing as much activity as you like - walking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming. With its central location, just 30 minutes by road from the Picton ferry, 20 minutes to Havelock 'Green-lipped Mussel Capital of the World' and 45 minutes to Blenheim and its famous Sauvignon Blanc vineyards and Omaka Air Museum, you can stay at Anakiwa 401 and easily explore and visit the beautiful Marlborough region, and return to peace and tranquility of the bush clad beach of Anakiwa in the evenings. Anakiwa 401 has received many excellent reviews on TripAdvisor from previous guests and we're sure you'll enjoy our accommodation as much as they, and we do. Our Guest Wing is only suitable for children 12 years and over. Our Bay View Apartment listing is our family suite and perfect for young families. We live on-site in a separate part of the house, but are always available to help you with any queries you may have, local information and advice on what there is to do in the area. We have lived here for almost 13 years now and really enjoy sharing our place of paradise with others. We would like to think our guests leave Anakiwa 401 relaxed and feeling like they have really discovered a magical part of New Zealand. By waking to the dawn chorus of native NZ birds such as tuis, bell birds, fantails, wood pigeons that frequent our gardens, enjoying a walk through the beech forest at the end of the Queen Charlotte Track to the safe sandy beach of Davies Bay, going kayaking on the Sound where you may see sea birds, penguins, seals or dolphins, to listening to the moreporks and seeing the glowworms in the evenings, whilst admiring the amazing stars of the night sky. To explore the Marlborough-wide region, having a car is useful, but to spend a few days enjoying the local area around Anakiwa 401, you can arrive by water taxi or The Link Bus from Picton or Havelock - just ask us for details.
