"The Beach Front" on Dangar Island is the perfect place to get away from it all. The house is one of the few homes on the island located on Bradleys Beach, which accommodates 8 people comfortably with 4 bedrooms and 2 separate living areas. With the sand just meters from the beautifully appointed house, the bi-fold doors on the ground floor living area completely open up giving the house a very relaxed holiday feeling. Downstairs - All the living area is on the open plan bottom floor. There is a large lounge room with a flat screen TV and hundreds of DVD and videos to choose from. The dinning room is next to the smaller lounge in which there are many books to read. The modern kitchen opens up onto a large patio with a BBQ and outdoor table and chairs. The fully equipped laundry and a separate guest bathroom are also on this floor. Upstairs- all bedrooms are upstairs with a family sized bathroom which is great for families. Master Bedroom has a king size bed and a lounge for relaxing in as you take the amazing view with the triple sliding door onto the balcony. It also has a dressing room and en-suite. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with a huge wardrobe and sliding doors onto the balcony. Bedroom 3 has a set of bunk beds, and a sliding door onto the front balcony. Bedroom 4 has a set of twin beds and a window over looking the large backyard. Getting to Dangar Island- By road from the south: Take the F3 freeway at Wahroonga, drive 20 minutes to the Hawkesbury River Bridge and follow the Brooklyn-Mooney Mooney turn off just after you cross the River. Follow the signs to Brooklyn and park at or near the Hawkesbury River Marina. The Dangar Island Ferry Wharf is on the left hand side of the marina as you face it, down a dirt track next to the railway line. Look for the sign posts. By road from the north: Follow the signs to Brooklyn and park at or near the Hawkesbury River Marina. The Dangar Island Ferry Wharf is on the left hand side of the marina as you face it, down a dirt track next to the railway line. Look for the sign posts. By rail: (Website hidden by Airbnb) Take the train: Alight at Hawkesbury River Station in Brooklyn. The Dangar Island Ferry Wharf can be seen on your left as you leave the railway station. The ferry trip: (Website hidden by Airbnb) The Dangar Island Ferry Service operates seven days a week and leaves regularly. The trip to the Island is a short trip on the “Sun”, a ferry that has all the charm of wooden boats of another era. Getting to “The Beach Front”- By private boat: The closest place to launch your boat is at the Parsley-bay Brooklyn Boat Ramp. It is located at the end of George St Brooklyn. A wide 2 lane concrete boat ramp set in a cove to minimize impact of wind and tide. (Website hidden by Airbnb) You can moor your boat straight out the front of the house on the southern beach (Bradleys beach) by throwing in an anchor keep in mind that this is a tidal river. (Website hidden by Airbnb) All the jetties on the island are privately owned, the only public jetty you can drop people off on is the one in front of the shop. You can rent little tinnies to take across to Dangar at (Website hidden by Airbnb) Walking from the ferry: Walking to the house from the ferry is straight forward. Walk up the hill away from the ferry wharf and there is a path to your left which goes towards the community hall and club. Walk past the hall on your left and cut across the park keeping the bowling green on your left and the toilets on your right. You will now join Baroona Street. Take a left and walk for 100 metres and then you will take a right on to the “Main road” towards the beach. Remain on Grantham Crescent until you come to #55 on your left. Go through the white gate and collect the keys from the lock box on the laundry door (to your left).   By Water Taxi: A private water taxi can be arranged to pick you up from the wharf at Brooklyn and drop you off at the island. You can ask to be dropped off at the beach out the front of the house but it will depend of the tide. Call Neal at Hawkesbury Water Taxi on (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) or h (Email hidden by Airbnb) By Community Buggy: When you are at the ferry wharf and you know which ferry you are getting on call the buggy driver on (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) The buggy is run by volunteers (islanders) and the driver changes daily. I would suggest calling the day before you are arriving and just asking that driver if the buggy is running the next day as sometimes the buggy is broken (not as much these days as we have a new flash buggy). Then call again from the ferry wharf – don’t try to prebook as the drivers aren’t great at passing on these messages. If you are on the last ferry let them know and they will come get you. Please remember to be polite as the only reason we have a buggy on the island is to help the elderly and passengers get and their stuff home. All the money raised goes to the rental of the buggy and it’s maintenance. Costs- •$5.50 per passenger •$2.20 per frail or disabled •$2.20 per carer or assistant •Children under 4 free •Excess baggage MAY incur a fee (it depends on the driver – so be nice!) •Mon – Friday 8:30 am – 7:30 pm •Saturday – Sunday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm I suggest one or two people go on the buggy with all the luggage and the rest of your party walk to the house. It’s a 5 minute easy walk. Trampoline, bikes, kayak, swing set, and BBQ for guest use. All sheets and towels are provided. Pantry is stocked with basics.
