The 'Quaint & Quirky' Ty Basket
'The Basket House' (Ty Basket in Welsh) is certainly quaint and quirky and steeped in history. It is one of two Toll Houses that managed the new Monmouth Road created by the Turnpike Trust in the 18th and 19th Centuries, and was built and opened in 1848. Its original roadside facade is a stunning piece of architecture, with a modern extension on the rear which creates a comfortable home for our guests. Situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons but not far from a city it is a great location! There is an open plan lounge / kitchen / diner. The 2 bedrooms are small but cosy and comfortable. The bathroom houses a free standing bath with shower above. There is a small dedicated workspace area with a desk, shelves and chair. The shed in the garden is suitable for storing bicycles or other outdoor equipment. The property is mostly on one level but there are 2 small stairs within the cottage and 3 steep steps to access it. There is also an unfenced small pond in the garden. Guest access is via the rear garden gate. More detailed instructions will be sent 2 days before arrival. This home from home is just minutes from Usk high street and town square where you'll find lots of cute independent shops, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. Just minutes away from the river Usk and 10 miles from the city of Newport. The Brecon Beacons are easily accessible with great hiking, cycling and outdoor activities. Usk is one of the most sought after places to live in Monmouthshire. Come to visit and find out why! Easily on foot throughout the town. Buses and taxis available to the local bigger towns and cities of Abergavenny, Monmouth and Newport. DVD Player and dvd for use of the guests. There are books, toys, games and jigsaws available.
