This cozy & romantic historic inn is an ode to life in the mountains & a perfect place to ski hike or read. This is a dream house in a dream location next to one of the most charming villages in the Adirondacks. The winding, treelined Road, leading up to this stately "great camp" is a wild landscape of forest. Outdoor activities abound here. The house is organized with an easy guest entry with a long open stairway leading to the second floor great room and guest suites. Each room has its own identity with unique furnishings and decoration. The 4 guest rooms all open to a grand hallway lined with bookshelves and seating. This leads to the great room which boasts a custom pool table and a massive fireplace and sitting area for guests to enjoy. The interior decoration is harmonious with the outdoors, full of wood and stone features. The piece de resistance is our underground prohibition tavern with its massive fireplace and salvaged bar from the Waldorf Astoria. One would do well to take measure of their life and seek quiet places to relax and reflect and then recharge. This year-round camp, in the quiet back country, is just such a place to renew. Come alone or with your friends or partner you will not be disappointed. Parking is right next to the house in a designated area. A single step up to enter the guest door and then a long wide set of stairs reaches the guest room hallway. Self entry with keypad.. This historic property was built in 1790 with a rich history of being a part of the Underground Railroad with a prohibition tavern on site. Formal flower gardens, fountain and manicured lawns are available for guests to enjoy. A large fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs is a big part of this Adirondack nightly experience which you are welcome to enjoy. I will be around during your stay in the owners front residence. I can be teached by cell phone at any time. Schroon Lake's Adirondack guest experience game is strong! With a crystal clear mountain lake and free beaches, a quaint town and businesses, restaurants, mountains, forest trails and a top notch brewery- there is something for everyone all year long. This house cannot accommodate children or pets. There is no cooking or food preparation at all in the house. There is no refrigerator or food storage areas. No cell phone usage outside of the privacy of your guest room. Sport equipment must stay outside and hiking shoes left by the door. You may bring your own drinks and prepared food to enjoy in a designated area. Dish ware and glassware are provided.the tap water is potable, originating from brass pipes from our private protected mountaintop springs.
