Our beautifully restored Millhouse 1860 is located directly across the street from a vibrant waterfall along the Kinderhook Creek. On Upper Main Street in the sleepy Village of Valatie, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, this well appointed house is an easy walk to restaurants, a brewery, wine/liquor store, antique shops and a thrift store as well as nature preserves. DOWNSTAIRS; Eat drink and be comfy! When you pull into the back yard at The Millhouse (where there's room for four vehicles) and walk through the back door we hope you'll feel at ease. We want you to enjoy this antique village house as much as our family and the many customers we befriended during its time as a boutique, have. The floors are old painted wood, the ceilings are high and lovely windows fill this space with a soft light. It's kitchen, brand new and fully equipped, was designed with the windows in mind and boasts brand new appliances. There are out of the way spots for friends to sit and chat and enough space for two - three chefs in this small but productive space. Steps away from the kitchen a round pine dinning table (a family antique) with an extra large built-in, lazy Susan, is just perfect for an abundance of easily sharable food. We have a sturdy high chair if needed, just let us know! The wall hung electric fireplace is a fun and cozy addition to mealtime. Just beyond the dining area are two family friendly sitting areas. The first, with everybody's favorite, teal velvet convertible sofa and two slouchy arm chairs, is just around the bend from a second area with a leather recliner, another sofa and a smart TV. Netflix is loaded for your convenience but don't forget your passwords for other popular apps. A favorite spot at The Millhouse is our south facing enclosed front porch. Especially cozy in the winter it looks out at Valatie's busy Main Street and the waterfalls beyond. We have two sitting areas on the porch, one with a small table and chairs. Enhanced by large tropical plants you have a feeling of privacy while watching the world go by. UPSTAIRS; three comfy bedrooms await your slumber! At the top of the stairs is "Little Nest" The Millhouse's smallest bedroom. Snug and comfortable, it is home to a painted wooden bed with a new memory foam double mattress and plenty of cozy linens. As with all of our bedrooms "Little Nest" has a cotton blanket and a down comforter with a fresh duvet cover, which is changed for each new arrival. A tall antique dresser, a closet and plenty of hooks make clothes storage easy. Next, in our "Seagrass Room" where Mid Century Modern meets the Berkshires in autumn, you'll find seagrass lamps hanging above the bed, perfect for evening reading and plenty of baskets to hold your essentials. The queen sized bed with its new memory foam mattress is dressed in ultra soft bamboo sheets, cotton blanket and has the same down puff as the other rooms. Two dressers and an ample closet provide plenty of space to drop your gear and go. Conveniently located near both "Little Nest" and "Seagrass" bedrooms is a shared bathroom whose shower has marble walls and a pebble tiled floor. We supply a abundance of cotton towels for your comfort. The last of our lovely bedrooms is named "Creek View." It's comfy new queen sized bed is dressed in soft bamboo sheets, a cotton blanket and down comforter, which is always refreshed between guests, with a clean duvet cover.
