SVEN'S NORTH CASCADES BASECAMP

Brand new offering! It is quiet in Mazama as a blanket of fresh snow hushes life to a whisper. Backcountry skiers have the promise of fresh powder while cross-country skiers enjoy the largest  network of groomed trails in the US. Strap on your snowshoes for a walk in snow-covered woods or bring a snowmobile and head out right from Sven's Basecamp. With the magic gift of snow, winter in Lost River creates special moments that can’t be duplicated. Come enjoy the new fresh snow! You will be our first guests in this newly renovated cabin! Sven's Basecamp is luxurious and rustic. The A-frame cabin has been appointed with new amenities and unique furnishings for just the two of you. Every surface of this 1970 A-frame has been remodeled with craftsmanship. Sven is a caribou that has been in the cabin for 47 years. We contemplated relocating the taxidermy piece but decided he deserves to stay for the next chapter of the cabins journey. Guests have access to the entire cabin; first floor bath, living room, kitchen and loft bedroom with a spiral staircase. Please observe 15 mile per hour speed limit for both cars and snowmobiling. Enjoy this cabin just like it was your own. We encourage you to stop by Goats Beard sports shop for local beta, Hanks Grocery store in Twisp for a great selection and the Bakery at the Mazama store for amazing baked creations. Lost River Airport Association is at the end of the Lost River road tucked up against the North Cascades National Park. You will find a fully appointed kitchen, gas barbeque and the Mazama store and bakery just down the road. We have six inches of new snow this morning! Roads are well plowed every 4- 6 inches and easy for cars to drive on. Sven's North Cascades Basecamp was one of the neighborhood's first cabins. Its name came from a beautiful caribou that we found mounted on its wall when we walked in. Sven will be 50 years old in a few more years.... Another surprise was antique cupboards used as cigar displays from Seattle City's courthouse. These elements have been preserved.
