Welcome to Loch Farms! Relax in the Blue Ridge Mountains & enjoy: 180 degree Mountain Views 2000+ sq feet with 3 private bed/baths each bedroom has its own bathroom (1 large owner’s + 2 junior owner’s suites) lakefront, fishing, dock, picnic tables & outdoor fireplace pool & 1500+ sq ft of outdoor decks & porches Extra firepit by the pool gardens hiking on site/tons of biking/ hiking at state parks less than 15 min away 35 min to Greenville Welcome to Grandma's Gallery @ Loch Farms. Did you have a grandmother like mine, who always made you feel like you were more home than when you were home? Did you ever know a grandmother figure that was creative and crafty, always making beautiful, handmade things for the children? Whether it was scratch biscuits with fresh buttermilk, or chunky blankets hand knit with yarn, my grandmother always made me feel like I was more than home when I was on "vacation" with her. This mountain arts & crafts cabin is our tribute to every creative grandmother out there that gave us beautiful memories like this. From the cast iron cookware, to the gardens & flowers, from the wood plank floors to the recliner by the fire, from making memories by the pool & lake to counting stars on the grass, this vacation home brings back to life all those getaway weekends with the grandparents. When we were planning our vision for Grandma's Gallery @ Loch Farms, we knew we wanted to offer all the things we would personally look for in a great vacation spot: -Everything at your fingertips: We love our amenities right outside the door! Why travel to a vacation spot and then have to travel every day while you're there? Give me the lake, pool and mountains right in the backyard please! -beautiful environment & location close to good city restaurants and events, but further away for that "away from it" feeling. -lots of space (we don't like crowded vacations!) -Clean, bright & safe -plenty of bathrooms so I don't have to share a bathroom with my husband's uncle's best friend. Sorry Uncle Bob ;) -Comfortable beds with soft, fresh, quality linens. Of course, all of the above are redline items for us on vacation. But how could we take it to the next level? How could we really help people get that more-than-home feeling of staying with creative, nurturing Granny? The walls and bare shelves gave us our answer: This home needs arts & crafts as much as it needs mountains & lake. This is how Grandma's Gallery was born. We are excited to present you not only with a vacation rental that WE would want to stay in, but we also welcome you with the hospitality of grandma, complete with beautiful fine art and artisan crafts to enjoy during your stay. Fine art & crafts are now available for your own eye-and-comfort-candy while you are with us, or they can be purchased separately so you can take that good ol' Grandma love home with you forever. THE ROOMS: Each bedroom has a private bathroom. 2 identical junior bedrooms offer walk-in closets, private baths with one sink, vanity, and tub/shower. -The "Loch Monster Room" is set up as a kids room with bunk beds and a full size bed. This is a great option for a family of four who has other family members staying with them, or for cousins to pile in a room together and just be kids! -The "True North" room is the other junior-master, and yes, it does face true north! That also means a beautiful picture window with sweeping mountain views. Complete with its own bath just like the Loch Monster Room, walk-in closet, but instead is set up perfect for a couple with a king size bed, dresser, and rocking chair. -"Granny's Studio" is the largest room and it is absolutely massive! Its so big, we had to break it up into smaller pieces, and I think our design team did an amazing job. This space houses a spacious bathroom with double vanities, stand-up shower, sleeping space with 14 in memory-foam queen bed, private office space beautifully placed in front of bay window, and "Grandma's Art Studio," situated in front of a large sliding glass door overlooking the mountains & deck. Psst! The art studio is an actual artist's studio! Many times artists need to get away and clear their heads to create, and it doesn't hurt to have some beautiful scenery to create beautiful art. We rent this space out when we do not have overnight guests to local artists! (If you would like to use some of the materials to create something while you are here, please message us.) -The "Creativity Classroom" is a pass-through area between the laundry and kitchen area. Perfect little spot for kids (or adults) can create something fun while others relax closeby or grab some biscuits in the kitchen. (basic art materials provided) -"Narnia Hideaway- this is a secret room, dedicated to imagination, discovery, and children's literature that will be available May 2022. Please ask for more details. -The kitchen/great room is where all the indoor gathering will be! From cooking a great meal in the massive kitchen, to gathering around the large carved dining table, or overflowing directly out the 2 sliding glass doors to the deck, this oversized kitchen and great room flow seamlessly with each other and with the outdoors. -The kitchen is fully set up for a chef or semi-pro baker. We love to bake here as well for our guests, and we have the kitchen organized into work stations for coffee/tea/smoothies, baking, prep work (island), and cooking/serving. This kitchen is larger than most home kitchens, so you will have no problem bringing all the fam or even enjoying holidays away from home at Grandma's Gallery! Another great feature I love about the kitchen is that you can grab a snack and not miss a beat of the game on the TV or the conversation on the sofa. The kitchen has a convenient exit directly onto the large deck by a sliding glass door, as does the living room. Directly outside the kitchen is another outdoor table & chairs. -The sunroom, or keeping room, is the oversized front entry where we have a fireplace, bench, & small sitting area. This is a great place to meditate, pray, do some yoga by the fire and enjoy a bonus mountain view (in the winter only). THE DECK AND THE POOL DECK: I love the two-tiered decking where plenty of people can gather above and below, but no matter how low you go, you never lose sight of those mountains! While it is not one, the pool feels like an infinity pool due to the way the land slopes. The "infinity" edge leads your eye straight to the Blue Ridge.....Head's Up! Many days we will see paragliders flying right overhead! Restaurants are amazing around here, and we have a lot of great suggestions, but we recommend eating in or eating early. You will not want to miss the sunset! On the days when the farm work is done and the biscuits are made for the next guests, my personal favorite spot is the 1000 square foot upper deck. Directly facing north, the deck offers sweeping views of the mountains year -round, and the mountains and lake during winter /early spring. Our hallmark of beauty at Loch Farms is definitely our sunsets and sunrises over the mountains & lake, and because the home faces true north, you will see both everyday! THE GARDENS: We set up the house first, don't sue us! The gardens are a happy work in progress. Currently our goals are to have them fully weeded & replanted by mid-April. We hope to be able to provide some fresh fruits and veggies and flowers to the community and guests soon. We also have a wonderful chicken coop full of happy chickens and fresh eggs are always available if needed. One sustainable organic garden runs along the side of the pool, and we hope to be offering you some beautiful sunflowers growing right there very soon. CHILDREN & SAFETY: Minimal Stairs are present to enter/exit the home. There are babygates located on each of these areas for parents. If you require anything else to make the home more baby-safe, please let us know. The pool area and upper deck are all trex decking, so no worries about splinters or burning feet! Each area can be locked off to keep kids safe, and there are also alarms on the doors to alert you if the toddler walks out. We use simplisafe for safety & home automation. Cameras are only present outside. We'll greet you with biscuits or muffins, leave you some flowers from the garden, and you will remember what it was like to get away to Grandma's for the week. Spend your time with us relaxing by the fire in the sunroom, under the covered front porch with orchard views or on the sunny back deck poolside under the mountain. Our happiest guests have come to stay with us for: birthday party weekends wedding events overflow family reunions bachelorette/bachelor's parties New Years celebrations Fourth of July Vacation Father's Day weekend Local Getaways & Staycations Mom's weekend away Church retreats Clemson/March Madness/ sports events Meditation retreats Yoga retreats **1 crib available, please ask for setup prior to your arrival** **in an effort to be more environmentally cautious, we do not use Flat sheets. This helps us cut down on laundry and water usage. If you require flat sheets, please let us know ahead of time. Guests will have full, private access to the upstairs main living area with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (1 owners suite + 2 junior owner's suites), large kitchen, dining room, living room, library, office, art studio space (materials are not available to guests), creative classroom, Narnia hideaway room, sun/fireplace room, covered front porch, & immediate back decking. 2 bedrooms including the owner's suite, living room, dining room, outdoor dining space, back deck, and back yard have expansive mountain & pool views where you can enjoy sunrises, sunsets, & millions of stars. Walkout Basement is being renovated to allow more space for future guests. ETA May, 2022. Please check back for updates! Guests will have semi-private access to the pool deck, gardens, lakefront, outdoor firepit, front yard, etc. These areas may be shared with host as there is always something to do to keep our farm beautiful for you! You may see us outside or working in the basement. Driving through downtown Pickens, you will notice a quaint downtown from time gone by. As you go through the small downtown, you’ll pass the beautiful new high school with the mountains set behind it. As you meander through the residential area, just a short distance away you will turn onto a one lane gravel road. A few cottage-style homes greet you, but as you approach the mountains on your right, the homes become grander and more beautiful until you see sprawling horse ranches with the full spread of the Blue Ridge on your right. You will know you have arrived when you dead end into our acreage. There is default privacy & luxury amenities here, perfect for that va(stay)cation. Private rural setting, gravel one lane driveway. Please feel free to park in the garage. Plenty of free overflow parking for other family & friends. We offer farm fresh biscuits or muffins for your first morning (or night). Please let us know which you prefer.
