Built in 1880, our home is a rambling, quirky Victorian nestled in the heart of downtown Old Fort. Minutes away from Black Mountain and Asheville, the inn is a perfect beginning and ending to your day's adventures in western NC! Our Roan Mtn room is bathed in colors of soothing green. The room hosts a full size bed, a seating area for two and windows that highlight large rhododendron. While the room doesn't have an adjoining bath, guests who stay here have access to a large full bath just down the hall that includes a large clawfoot tub and a large cathedral window. Bathrobes are provided. You will have access to a well-stocked library, a relaxing front porch, 3 acres of gardens and other outdoor spaces, and an amazing 6 person hot tub that offers great views of the night sky. (Please note: Hot Tub is closed during June, July and August.)You can also enjoy a shared TV/Dining area that has a small refrigerator, microwave and TV with cable and Netflix and WIFI for guest use. You are invited to enjoy a fresh, home cooked deluxe continental breakfast at no additional cost We live in the house and will greet you on arrival and be available should you need us. Our home is somewhat secluded, yet we are very close to downtown. While the small town of Old Fort has only a few fast food restaurants and stores, we have a new downtown art gallery, Arrowhead Gallery and Studios. The house also sits directly across from the historic Old Fort Depot and is within walking distance of the Mountain Gateway Museum. For guests who are seeking outdoor adventure, visits to Andrews' Geyser, Catawba Falls, Curtis Creek, and Point Lookout are great points of interest for cyclists and hikers. There is no public transit in town; however, the house located one and a half miles off Interstate 40 and directly on Hwy 70. We are located very close to the train tracks and the town fire station. Train whistles and sirens may be surprising at first. We do offer ear plugs to help those light sleepers. Our drive is steep and graveled. There are many ruts that can be alarming. Our Honda Accord makes the climb easily.
