Claragh - Cosy flat in the beautiful Burn Valley
Claragh is a self-contained flat within Burnhayes House, set in the unspoilt Burn Valley between the villages of Bickleigh and Butterleigh, 8 miles south of Tiverton and 12 miles north of Exeter. The flat has its own parking and separate entrance. Burnhayes House is set within 14 acres of woodland and farmland and has outstanding views across a small lake to the fields beyond. Fishing is possible and a kayak available. The house is accessed via a small bridge over the River Burn. The flat has been recently refurbished. The skylights in the roof space ensure it is light and bright during the day, with soft lighting directed towards the timber frames for the evenings. The Everhot cooker provides a gentle, constant heat as well as a cooking facility. There are 2 bedrooms, each with 2 single beds. In Bedroom 1 the beds can be made into a Kingsize, if preferred. The bathroom has both a bath and a shower. The outside space comprises a raised decking area with outdoor seating and a hammock. It has views across open countryside. There is also a lower terrace area with picnic table and benches. We live in the main house and are available most days and evenings. We have chosen Sunday for changeover during High Season as the amount of traffic on the M5 is much less than on a Friday and Saturday when the motorway is extremely congested. Burnhayes House is set in a small friendly community which includes Burnhayes Farm and bungalow and Burn Orchard. Burnhayes Farm is a working cattle farm and the adjacent farmyard comes with accompanying smells and machinery! There are walks within the immediate environs and along public footpaths around the Burn Valley. The neighbouring villages of Bickleigh and Butterleigh are within walking distance and each have a pub and church. Bickleigh also has Bickleigh Mill shopping experience and restaurant and a castle. Silverton Spa shop and Thorverton Farm shop are both a 10 minute drive away. Fresh eggs can be bought at various places along the valley. Driving around the Devon lanes requires patience! The Burn Valley is single track with passing places. Many people walk, cycle and ride horses down the valley so careful driving is appreciated. There is a regular hourly bus service from Exeter (12 miles) to Tiverton (8 miles) on the A396 and the bus stops in Bickleigh.
