An automobile is necessary for local travel, but the MARC commuter train platform, Brunswick Line, is located about a mile down the road, and provides service to and from DC and points in between in the morning and evening. The Shady Grove Metro station is about a 15 drive, with subway service every few minutes from early morning until 11 pm. The Discovery Sports Complex, Boyds Country Store, and Black Hill Regional Park Visitors Center are only a few minutes drive. You will be greeted either by me or my son, Tom, who will be your on site host. Tom is a wireless internet service provider and manages his network from this property. This furnished apartment is not set up for animals, but my son and grandson have four small friendly dogs that are outside for a few hours each day, weather permitting. Breakfast basics sufficient for the first few days are provided as a convenience until guests settle in and become familiar with the local area. As longtime residents of the area, we enjoy providing our guests with information about historical, cultural and recreational opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and we welcome guests to special family events here on the MiniMountain and at our nearby farm. On the other hand, we also respect the privacy of our guests. The village of Boyds is located on the edge of the county's vast agricultural reserve, and there is considerably more acreage dedicated to parkland and greenspace than for either residential or commercial uses. Whereas we have easy access to I-270 a major high tech corridor, we also enjoy many miles of trails, rurual rustic roads, and rolling hills. Sugarloaf Mountain is a popular biking and hiking destination, and we are within an hours drive of Annapolis and Baltimore, of Harpers Ferry and Gettysburg, of Alexandria and Mount Vernon, and of course, Washington DC. Our guests need access to an automobile for local travel, whether it be privately owned, rented, or a service like Uber. Enterprise in Germantown provides coutesy pickup and delivery to and from its office. We strive to provide our guests with a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Please let Tom or Marilyn know if there is anything that might make you more comfortable. Tom is an enthusiastic Corvette owner, and several of them are parked in front of his house, along with his race car van, his large pickup truck, and several Mini Coopers. This is Tom’s play area where he works on his hobby cars, one of the perks of this secluded site. Our longtime family home, that was also located on this MiniMountain property, was destroyed by fire last year. Marilyn is managing the recovery process and collaborating with an architect on the design of a replacement house.
