The Cottage is a private space conveniently located one block from the Gainesboro square in picturesque Jackson county. Close by are many outdoor activities such as fishing the Cumberland River or canoeing/kayaking on the Roaring River (shuttle available), where there is a boat ramp, a swim area & playground. Just 12 miles to Cummins Falls State Park & 25 minutes to Cookeville. If you’re a history buff, make sure to visit the incredible Jackson County Archives & Veterans Hall at 104 Short St. The Cottage has been renovated back to its original charm with modern updates. The bathroom has a large walk in shower and heated tile floors. Recycled materials (such as the flooring in the den—16 ft. bleacher wood that came from a high school gym in McMinnville TN), original Hardwood floors in the bedroom along with shiplap walls and ceilings are found throughout the 4 room cottage. Two brick and stone fireplaces (no longer operational) were found behind sheet rock and dark paneling. Kitchen has a pink fridge with an ice maker. No stove, but microwave, double hot plate, crock pot and toaster oven available. If you love vintage style and quirky older homes, this is the place for you! The cottage is a private space that is part of a larger house that is still being renovated as it is the oldest section, so it is more involved. No work will be done on the house while guests are staying at the cottage. You’re welcome to utilize the table and chairs located on the side of the house. Owner is located within 30 minutes, so can be available if need be. Live music on the weekends and fantastic food at The Bull and Thistle Pub, located on the square. Open Fri, Sat and Sun (brunch offered too). Walk to Faye’s Cafe for breakfast; open Mon-Sat, 5 AM to 12 PM (cash only) or 12 Degrees for lunch/dinner as well as The Stolen Coin...try the fried green tomatoes! And if you need a sweet treat, like a Coke float, visit Anderson & Haile drugstore behind the house at 101 W. Gore Ave. Unique gifts and home decor available to purchase there as well. Giovanni’s pizza, Subway and Dairy Queen are a very short drive away. Parking is available on the street in front of the cottage and is on an incline.
