Relax: Spacious Family Cottage with Log Fire

Gorgeous extended cottage perfect for a countryside retreat. Relax over a leisurely breakfast in the light and airy kitchen, cosy up by the log burner in the snug, or relax n the family room - our home makes the perfect place to stay for some peace and quiet within easy reach of plenty to see and do around the Northamptonshire countryside. Walking distance to the village pub and playground, or across the fields to the Castle Ashby Estate with its artisan shopping yard, deli and gardens. Our home was built in the 1700s and extended a few years ago to provide a comfortable and welcoming family space. The kitchen is the heart of the house - light, airy and a lovely place to sit and watch the birds in the garden with a cup of tea. Beyond, step through to the family room, where you'll find the piano, a selection of childrens toys, books and games, and big squashy sofas to curl up in and watch a movie on the big cinema screen. For cosy evenings, relax in the snug with the log burner lit. This room is the cosiest in the house and a lovely place to wind down after a day out in the countryside. Upstairs, the master bedroom has lovely big windows looking out over a canopy of trees in the garden. There's an en-suite walk in shower and small dressing area too. Two further bedrooms are suitable for children only. The largest has a single bed, and also a raised sleeping platform (which is only suitable for children over the age of 10 as it's quite a long way up a spindly ladder!). The third bedroom has a single high bunk bed accessed by a built in ladder. There's a clean and modern bathroom with shower and bath off the landing. Outside you're welcome to make use of the patio dining area. There's a wood fired pizza oven if you're feeling ambitious, and a traditional bbq too. Grendon is a lovely quiet little village within easy access of good road and rail links. There's a traditional pub, and the childrens playground is just across the road from our home. Our house is on a quiet private lane, with lovely walks over the fields beyond. We're about a mile from the Castle Ashby Estate, which is a lovely day out visiting the formal gardens, artisan shopping yard and deli, and maybe stopping for a cocktail and a bite to eat in the newly opened luxury hotel The Falcon. It takes about half hr to walk there over the fields. Olney is a pretty market town on the river about 15 mins away, with independent shops and cafes. There's also lots of country parks to explore, with adventure playgrounds and walking trails- Sywell and Irchester have good facilities for children, as does Stanwick Lakes and Chester House Estate roman heritage site. There's no shop in the village, the nearest coop is in the neighbouring village of Wollaston or Earls Barton. There are larger supermarkets within easy reach at Wellingborough to the north, or Olney to the south. We have free parking outside the house for up to two cars. It's also easy to get here by train. The nearest station is Wellingborough, with trains to London every half hr. A taxi from the station should be around £15. (Northampton station is also close, around a 20minute car journey away) Please be aware that the house is not suitable for groups. Families are fine, but please be aware that two of the three childrens beds are very high, and not suited to young children! There is room for a travel cot in the second bedroom if you need to bring one.
