Cosy Cotswold Stone Cottage

This cosy cottage provides the ideal location for you to explore all that the Cotswolds has to offer. Perfectly situated 15 mins from Burford, 30 mins from Oxford, and 90 mins from Bath, the possibilities for adventure are endless. Bampton itself, known for providing the backdrop to many scenes in Downton Abbey, has plenty of amenities within easy walking distance from the cottage. Post exploration, the cottage provides the perfect spot to relax and recharge in elegant, comfortable surroundings. Upon entry into the house through the cobblestone courtyard you will find a convenient porch to hang coats and store your boots and shoes. The dining area as you enter the house provides seating for 6 people around a traditional pine table and benefits from a wood burning stove to keep you warm on chilly evenings. Next to the dining area is a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, freezer, microwave, stove, induction hob, fan, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a large array of cookware and utensils enabling the preparation of any kind of meal from simple snacks to extravagant feasts. The main living area comprises a large sofa and two arm chairs. There are a number of games available for your entertainment and there is a smart TV that will allow you to stream your favorite shows and movies through Netflix, Amazon Video, BBC iPlayer, ITV hub, All 4 etc. French doors lead out to the patio and garden area with table and chairs, creating the perfect space for alfresco dining on a balmy summer evening. Moving upstairs, you will find bedrooms designed to help you relax and recharge in calm welcoming spaces. The main bedroom has a king bed (UK king), plenty of closet space and a cozy reading nook. The second bedroom has a king bed (UK king), a dresser and a closet. Up a further flight of stairs, our guests will find a Moroccan themed room with a double sofa bed (UK double). This room can be utilized as a second living space if there are 4 guests and a bedroom if there are 6 guests. The bathroom comprises a deep soaking tub and a separate shower. Each room has been thoughtfully furnished to a high standard, providing an environment that you will look forward to returning to during each day of your stay. There is street parking available directly outside the front of the property and there are footpaths that can take guests directly into the village. Guests will be able to stay in touch via text prior to and during their stay. Bampton is well known for providing the backdrop to many village scenes from the renowned Downton Abbey TV series. From the church you can follow the Downton Abbey mile and easily imagine yourself enjoying afternoon tea in Mrs Crawley's front parlor or a swift half in the Grantham Arms! There are indeed many walking paths that you can take from the cottage to explore the neighborhood that will inevitably lead you to one of the excellent local pubs, several of which are along the Thames Path. We strongly recommend that you download the OS Explorer Map 180 in order to take full advantage of the many walking paths in the local area. The town of Bampton, with it's award winning butcher, two cafes, and well stocked local Co-op is just a short 10 minute stroll on footpaths from the cottage. If you prefer to drive, there is a car park in the center of town that you can reach in about 2 mins. Further afield there are good road networks that will take you into the Cotswolds, and to the historic cities of Bath, Oxford and Cirencester. We respectfully request that guests remove shoes and boots in the porch before entering the house. We suggest you bring slippers for use in the house during your stay. There are instructions in the kitchen for garbage, food waste, and recycling. Guests should follow these instructions during and at the end of their stay. On the day of departure guests should load and run the dishwasher, clean any pans and leave them to drain.
