When you're ready to explore, the creative community and bucolic nature of Mineral Point await right outside your door. Roland's Loft is the top floor of The Sardeson at Shake Rag Alley. Lovingly decorated to honor the creative spirit of Roland himself, guests can enjoy unique touches including the writing desk made of refurbished Mineral Point Opera House floorboards and kitchen and bathroom ceramic prairie tiles made by nationally known muralist Bruce Howdle. The loft is the perfect getaway for guests traveling for work and/or play. Guests have the entire studio apartment to themselves. Your stay supports Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, Mineral Point's nationally known arts and crafts school. Our office is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and weekends when workshops are in session. We will email you information including check-in instructions in advance of your stay. Once you have arrived, there will be additional information provided about the lodging facility, its amenities and more general information about Mineral Point. The neighborhood is representative of Mineral Point's dedication to historic preservation, arts and culture, and entrepreneurship. There are plenty of places for shopping, dining, and adventuring. Within walking distance are Pendarvis — the Wisconsin Historic Site featuring a series of early 19th-century cottages built by Cornish immigrants — and Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, our magical campus of historic buildings and lush gardens that serve as classrooms for arts and crafts workshops and event spaces for community and private celebrations. Mineral Point is located in southwestern Wisconsin, about one hour southwest of Madison and less than an hour northeast of Dubuque. While there is no public transportation in our area, if you need transportation from the Madison or Dubuque airport or any location in southwestern Wisconsin, Southwest Wisconsin Transit's Lift Transportation Assistance can help.
