Grade II Listed Baptist Chapel, built in 1824 and carefully renovated to provide a warm and comfortable relaxed stay. With underfloor heating from a ground source heat pump and wood burning stove. On the edge of the pretty village of Bardwell, 8 miles from Historic Bury St Edmunds and in the centre of East Anglia. There are many interesting places to visit within easy travelling distance. Price is for the unit not per person. The living space is one spacious room with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable seating. A bedroom leads off the main room and has a shower en-suite and a double/Queen bed. The gallery bedroom has a super king bed which can be two singles upon request. Outside there are old mellow gravestones on two sides amongst which aconites, snowdrops, daffodils, crocuses and other wild flowers which bloom in season. Peaceful surroundings with a short private woodland walk. For the better weather there is furniture for outside eating. We do accept children over the age of 8 years. Parents must accept responsibility for their safety and assess whether the chapel is suitable. Please feel feel free to ask questions. The host lives next door. There are many places to visit locally and further afield as well as a variety of places to eat or buy local produce. There are also country parks and attractive local market towns. The village has a Post Office, a bakery/shop, two pubs and a social club where food is available. Surrounding villages also have a variety of good places to eat out. Only 8 miles away is the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Further afield but well worth visiting are Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge as well as the Norfolk and Suffolk coasts. Historic market towns such as Lavenham, Sudbury, Long Melford are within easy reach as well as National Trust and English Heritage sites. Easy to reach Museums/heritage centres in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Sudbury, West Stow, Mildenhall, and Thetford are well worth visiting to find out more about the county of Suffolk. And don't forget the beautiful Dedham Vale and Flatford Mill. There is a limited bus service. The nearest train station is Bury St Edmunds (8 miles). We look forward to offering you holiday accommodation in our converted former chapel but please make sure it suits your requirements before booking. It is old with original brick floors and floor boards which can be uneven. The original staircase is very steep with a height restriction at the bottom. Broadband speeds vary and can be slow compared with urban areas. There is no plug in fast charging capability available on the property at present but extension cables can be provided for slow charging if you have the necessary kit.
