COVID19 PROTOCOL: We will begin receiving guests again in June, 2020 under the guidelines provided by the Commonwealth of PA. However, the health of our guests is paramount to our concern, so please note the following information regarding your stay: at least for the foreseeable future, (1) we will place individually wrapped items in your room (i.e.: Juice, yogurt, cereal cups, etc) for your ease, but we will not be providing breakfast each morning; (2) we will not be scheduling guests back to back -- rather there will be a day blocked in between each guest so that we can ensure that the room is completely disinfected and aired out between visitors -- please plan accordingly. We are happy to welcome you to this generous sized, airy, room with soothing colors, separate from the main house. The space was painted and updated in 2019 and includes a queen bed, attached bathroom with walk-in shower, a small refrigerator, microwave, free wifi, heating and air conditioning (controlled in the room), cable, and several closets. NO ACCESS (at this time) TO A KITCHEN. We provide private driveway parking. The home is located ½ mile from the charming and historic community of Ambler, with several notable theaters, restaurants, craft beer pubs, and shopping venues. It is also ½ mile from the R5 train line (Ambler Station) which is about a 25-30 min ride to Center City, including Reading Terminal Market, the Constitution Center, the Art Museum, etc. We are also very close to several college campuses, including Temple University-Ambler campus, Chestnut Hill College, Gwynedd Mercy University, Montgomery County Community College and many other places of higher learning. Ambler is a vibrant community with a rich history and several places of interest, but the room itself is serene, private, and charming. The year 2020 brought several new restaurants to Main Street in Ambler. As of Aug 2019, we are happy to welcome our guests to enjoy our new backyard patio and the room itself. We have recently completed construction on the patio and walkway from the driveway. We hope this space offers a peaceful and comfortable place to enjoy the outdoors while reading or enjoying a cup of coffee. This is up to the guest. The lovely advantage of this space is that while it is attached to the main house, it has its own entrance. This allows guests to interact with the family if they choose to, or guests can simply retire to their room for peaceful, quiet repose. It is heavily insulated, so guests can be confident that they will not be disturbed by household noises. The beautiful Wissahickon Watershed Park runs past the end of our street. This park meets up with the Wissahickon Valley Park – including nature trails, creek, jogging/biking trails, and wooden-covered bridges just 5 miles from our home. The property is nestled between historic and protected farmlands, and state-owned nature preserves (Four Mills Nature Preserve, Armentrout Preserve, and Ft. Washington State Park) while also maintaining easy access to main shopping and tourist areas. Ambler boasts that it is “friendly small-town covering less than a square mile in area with a stable population of 6400. It has convenient public transportation accessibility, municipal parks & recreation facilities, and a "walkable" downtown commercial district that make it an ideal location for living, working, and playing”. Ambler is also making a name for itself as a restaurant mecca boasting culinary skills and traditional menus showcasing how Ambler benefits from and embraces ethnic diversity. Some options include a Spanish restaurant (El Comida), a French restaurant (La Province), a Thai restaurant (Melodi's Thai), a Korean BBQ restaurant (KopKo), a Sushi restaurant (Hatsu), and a Vegan restaurant. These new venues join an already impressive line up of American BBQ (Lucky Well), Italian (From the Boot), Indian (Saffron), and a steakhouse (Bridget's). SEPTA is the regional public transportation company that services the Philadelphia area. As well, we are happy to make arrangements to pick up guests who arrive at the Ambler station (schedule permitting). Uber & Lyft both provide services to the area. SEPTA's regional train that services the neighborhood is called the R5 – Lansdale-Paoli Line and the local train station (Ambler Station) is located just ½ mile from your room. This train will take you downtown to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and Historic District in about 25-30 minutes. SEPTA's Route 94 Bus stops 1 block from your room and takes you to several different locations, including the Plymouth Meeting mall, Montgomeryville, and Chestnut Hill shopping areas. The room is also located less than 5 miles from the PA turnpike. Please note that while we love animals, and in fact have two dogs, chickens, rabbits and a parakeet of our own, pets are not permitted in the room. Our animals have never been in the space -- and it is considered completely pet free. However, you may encounter the dogs if you go into the yard. We welcome ANY questions you may have.
