Clark's Corner, a c 1853 house has a large private yard with gardens near Becket and Chester village. Recently restored, it retains mid 19th century features such as many plaster walls and ceilings, hemlock flooring and original windows. Updated baths. This 7 1/2 room cottage is cozy but has room to spread out. English-American decor. There are 3 bedrooms on the second floor comfortably sleeping 4-6 people. The north bedroom and south bedroom each has a double bed. The middle bedroom has 2 twin beds and is adjacent to the back stairs. There is also a sunny reading room. Kitchen, dinette, living room and parlor on the first floor. Two full baths, one up, one down. Located on historic rte 20 in the charming village of Chester. The country kitchen has most conveniences and a dinette. Enjoy morning coffee on the front porch watching the cars go by or an evening out back with woods and gardens around. Your host can meet you at check in to help get you get settled, otherwise we are just a phone call away, living on the farm 3 miles up the road. Guest check in instructions will be emailed a day or two before your stay. You are invited to visit our farm and see the horses, poultry and quail where you can pick up some fresh eggs or give your child a pony ride. Chester village is less than a mile away. There you will find village amenities, grocery, cafe, library, children's park, museums, and religious services. Although on a fairly busy road, Historic Route 20, also known as Jacobs Ladder Trail, you'll find privacy in the back yard with woods all around. Walker Brook is directly across the street. Just 12 minutes from Jacob's Pillow, minutes to Chester Theater and 1/2 hour from most Berkshire attractions like Tanglewood and popular playhouses and theaters. Several summer camps, Camp Watitoh, Camp Greylock, Camp Bonnie Brae, Camp Chimney Corners and others are minutes away. Marvelous hiking and kayaking nearby, AT, October Mtn, Sanderson Brook Falls, famous Keystone Arches, Otis reservoir.... More! Skiing? Try Blandford, Otis Ridge, both about 20 minutes away. No public transport. You'll want your own transportation. Some have been using uber with mixed results. This is an old house and has some old house quirks! If you prefer new.....this is not for you! we take pride in the character and history of this house and ask that you treat it with respect. Children can play on the old unused road behind the house. Guests are welcome to garden produce, as available, mid summer through fall. Coffee and tea provided. NO wifi. Good verizon service if you want to bring a hot spot. There is a cafe/store and a library with Internet a couple miles away.
