Our 1840’s renovated grist mill is located in the beautiful Monadnock Region. The house is situated on twelve acres and includes gardens, an orchard, berry bushes, grape vines, beehives, chickens and a tremendous waterfall. We are close to many of nature’s gems including Mount Monadnock, Pack Monadnock, the Heald Tract hiking trails, skiing, snowshoeing and swimming. Also the acclaimed MacDowell Arts Center, Andy’s Summer Playhouse, Andres Institute of Art and the Waldorf Schools. This is a magical room with large old granite stones making up one wall and a bank of windows making up another. The french door opens to a large screened-in porch which overlooks a waterfall. With an antique four poster canopy bed and a tile floor with Turkish rug, you are sure to want to relax here. But nature is calling and you will also be inclined to wander along the water fall or out into the pavilion, gardens and orchard. Its a perfect place to just breathe. Please note that two cats and one dog live in this house (NOT in this room!) and chickens live on the property. We are happy to have you come and go as you please and relax in your room and the screened-in porch or around the grounds as you like. We will be available if you need help with anything. We can suggest restaurants in the area as well as hiking trails, art experiences, movies and the like. If you don't see one of us just check the guidebook on this site. Our house is situated on twelve acres of land, so while we do have neighbors within walking distance our property is very private. You are welcome to walk around and enjoy the amazing nature surrounding you. We are rural and you will need a car to access most places although Sheldrick Forest and the Heald Trail are within walking distance. The Hilltop Cafe is a must visit for breakfast. We are a 5 minute drive to the Waldorf Schools and Andy's Summer Playhouse. Peterborough is about 12 minutes to our west and Milford about 12 minutes to our east. Wilton Town Hall Theatre in downtown Wilton boasts first run movies, a friendly atmosphere and fresh popcorn with real butter. Covid Vaccinations Required. The bathroom, built into the original granite wall, is comforting and has a rustic charm. We have filtered water so it is perfectly safe to drink the water, however there is also Brita filtered water provided in your room. A previous issue with iron in the water has somewhat stained the toilet bowl. We keep it very clean, but iron stains are unfortunately visible. We keep a dehumidifier running in the bathroom to keep the room fresh. Occasionally we will pop in to empty it. If you prefer emptying it yourself, just let us know. The bathroom is not shared, but is not en suite.
