Mildred House is a superb three bedroom early Victorian house in the centre of Askrigg, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We are very excited to offer this house as a BRAND NEW RENTAL!! In fact it’s so new that we are still putting the finishing touches on full top to bottom renovations ahead of your stay. We will add many more photos as the renovations are completed so that you can see exactly where you'll be staying, so stay tuned! For now, we're giving as detailed a description as possible but please feel free to contact us with any further questions. You can also follow us on InStA at @caspers_cottages to keep up to date with the renovations. Our beautiful period property dates back to 1841 and still holds many of its original features. We have done our best to retain and restore as many of the original features of the house as possible in the renovation, whilst also creating a modern and comfortable home from home for our guests, including installing brand new electric heating throughout to ensure you are warm and cosy during your stay, whatever weather the Dales decides to throw at you. Downstairs boasts an open plan kitchen and dining room with breakfast bar and dining table offering seating for up to 8 people, double bedroom, and a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. Upstairs, you’ll find two more double bedrooms and another bathroom with bath, shower, toilet and sink. The lounge is also situated upstairs to take advantage of the views across the garden and village and across the dale to the Wensleydale fells. The lounge features an open fire, coffee table, two couches and queen sized sofa bed. The master bedroom and downstairs bedroom each have super-king sized beds which can be separated into two single beds if twin rooms are required, whilst the second upstairs bedroom is a fixed double. Please let us know the configuration you require for each room and we will happily prepare the beds accordingly for your arrival. On your way up the central staircase, you’ll meet a beautiful, traditional stained glass window offering views of Addleborough to the distance. The master bedroom and lounge look onto the village below. Outside, just across the road from the property is a lovely, south facing lawned garden and paved courtyard with a table, chairs and a barbecue. The garden is secure and suitable for pets, children and adults alike who want to stretch their legs, soak up the sun or enjoy an al fresco meal. From the garden, you can enjoy views over the village to Addlebrough and Wether Fell with its Roman road. We offer free parking just a few yards from the cottage. There is also a secure cellar where you may store bicycles if required. We are committed to ensuring that an extremely thorough clean takes place between every stay and we are taking additional steps to ensure that your stay is COVID safe. Mildred House is situated at the bottom of the village, moments walk away from various amenities including three pubs, several cafes, a local store and a playground. The village itself is the epitome of the Yorkshire Dales. It was the setting for the popular ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ series and the views are idyllic. Whether it’s a quiet countryside getaway, a walking holiday, cycling trip or rural adventure - Askrigg is perfect! Situated within the heart of Wensleydale, you’ll be in the perfect place to explore Wensleydale, Swaledale and the many beautiful villages in the area. Within a short drive, you can reach a number of beautiful spots, including the market town of Hawes which is home to Wensleydale creamery, Semerwater lake and Aysgarth falls. If you don’t have a car, you’re spoilt for choice for walks in the village itself. There are lots of public footpaths of varying lengths but our personal favourite is a walk which starts five minutes from the cottage and takes you to Mill Gill waterfall, a hidden gem in an extremely secluded spot.
